shut up fu**ing moaning! 'the game was off monday' the temperatures could of risen during the week and made it playable but they didn't.. give the club a rest
Game Off on 16:42 - Feb 10 with 2170 views | ColDale | Ive a bit of sympathy with the club here. Common sense would say that the game was always going to be off from the cold spell of a week ago, coupled with a forecast that was never gonna have any significant time above freezing. It would have looked tinpot in the extreme to have announced the game was off with four or five days to go before the game, but I'd imagine there would have been a dozen clubs who could have done exactly the same. At the very least, the club have to appear to be giving it every opportunity of being on even though they knew there was next to know chance.

It was always likely to be off once the warmer/heavy rain forecast for Friday changed midweek. This doesn't mean they shouldn't follow a process wherein there are daily updates and people are informed as much as possible. If nothing else it'll stop the debates about whether covers are/aren't down and what potential plans there are to request help. It gives fans a bit of warning and might get a few more down if they're informed that it *might* be necessary. Again, this makes no difference to the game being off but is everything done as well as it could be? We'd only have had a chance with the recent weather if proper covers were in place ahead of the cold weather. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

I couldn't agree more 442, but I suspect the 2-game ticket deal might have had something to do with the lack of information - although the club don't normally need an excuse!! If true, they couldn't be more wrong-headed.

In his interview on Dale Player the groundsman says there was very little he could do with overnight temperature being -4 or -5 overnight for the last week or so. The game next week could also be in danger unless temperatures rise to about +4 for a while to allow a thaw. He added that other local clubs (Preston, Bury) were in the same position and more creative solutions would have had little effect e.g. Charlton with their hot air blowers last week. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

But frost covers which cover to extreme temperatures presumably do work? Prevention rather than cure and all that.

Even you True_Blue aren't that thick, to see the temp was going any higher the 2 degrees in the day and always dropping to -4/-5 at night, so dont tell me that the game wasn't off on Monday. D**K

Game Off on 19:14 - Feb 10 with 1838 views | Nerazzurri | I'm failing to see the problem here. This game was always going to be off given the weather over the past couple of weeks. Despite what George is saying the covers were down but obviously are not good enough to keep out a sustained frost. It's not like we have announced it as off at 14:55 tomorrow afternoon. (Or evening if you prefer! )

Agree with most of that. But what processes are followed to keep fans informed/educated about the situation?
