Could selling Grimes and losing his wages allow a deal for Darling? 15:25 - Jan 27 with 1682 viewsReslovenSwan1

Selling Grimes for £2-3m and losing his £22k a week wages frees up a lot of funds. Upto £4.5m in the budget.

Most fans would if they had a choice nominate Harry Darling as the ideal new Captain. He he as presumably is outlined his requirements. Wycombe will want £1m for Low but he is free a in July. Can the club now give Darling wa he sf ge wants with Grimes' s wages off the books?

That would be brilliant. The ideal scenario in my opinion
Gutted that Grimes looks like going.
He has been a great servant ever present and never injured.

Yes, I'm with you. Give Darling the deal he wants AND sign Low. We need a replacement for Grimes too though.

Ideally Williams will be put on gardening leave and we have a new boss too. I know we have P&S to worry about but others seem to be going ahead with spending who are in worse positions than us.

Couldn't agree more with your last paragraph, teams with far higher wage bills and losses than us are splashing the cash.

The club are sending out massive negative vibes, we have a week to change that

You’ve got to look at why Grimes wants to go. Whatever his reasons, they could well apply to Darling too.

Unfortunately, this isn’t football manager.

If Grimes does go, I think that’ll have a really negative impact on the rest of the squad and I can’t see Darling staying. If Williams has lost the dressing room like some are claiming, then players at other clubs will be very weary about signing and we may find it’s a case of Grimes out and no one in.

I’ve questioned the same thing on here multiple times. How are far worse run clubs than ours managing to sign players. Have K&L taken the family silver with them? There must be a reason for it and if it’s loopholes why haven’t we played by the same rules? He may not be experienced in English football but I’m pretty sure Coleman woukd know about these loopholes if they exist.

I think people are forgetting that Darling is most likely in the same mindset as Grimes.

Wishful thinking.

Do we know if that mindset is brought on by Luke Williams, or is it a bigger problem than that?

Grimes , 22k a week, let that sink in .... even in the crazy world of football, there's no-one who plays for the Swans should be earning that kind of cash, we've simply not got it.

Does anyone actually seriously believe the money for Grimes will be spent on ‘strengthening’ the squad ?
