Spotland pitch inspection at 9.30am tomorrow morning.

The thing I appreciate is the updates. Unlike others clubs they have made us aware as easily as possible. Cant knock that can you

If they’ve time to re-produce what we can all see on the club website, wouldn’t it be a better use of the Trust’s resources to find out more information about the current situation with the pitch? Or finding out why their members and other supporters can’t stand in the Sandy Lane end?

If they can identify a process where someone on the Trust board can regularly identify supporter concerns without prompting maybe? Though it may require someone who also has a definitive contact with the club and its board.

Oh.

Something will have to be done urgently.
The next round of the FA Trophy is timetabled for Saturday 1st February with the draw presumably on Monday.
What takes priority on a Tuesday? The FA Trophy or the NL Trophy?
We certainly don’t want to end up like Halifax last season, playing “home” games at places like Accrington and Chesterfield.

There’s no way we should be looking to play Wolves u21s next Tuesday at Spotland. Saying that, having to switch any game would be a real wake up call for all involved at the club.

Most importantly for the Ogdens whose investment in a business that can’t fulfil its basic operations should ensure they immediately launch a detailed investigation, making changes where required.

FA 'cup' competitions - FA Cup/Trophy/Vase - generally always have priority.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Might have to ground share with avro or another local club

I see Gateshead have switched their tie with Boston tomorrow to Stockton Town funnily enough as Stockton have an Astro pitch. Wouldn’t be surprised if we end having to switch the tie to their ground at this rate.

It's time the Ogdens asked a few hard, business-like questions of the way the club is being run on a day-to-day basis

If only they knew it, the fanbase would be behind them all the way. I suspect they've been sold a false picture of us, and the way the Trust fails to intelligently challenge at board level will have done nothing to alter that view

Perhaps it does need a minor catastrophic fixture pile-up to change things. The manager and players can't be at all happy about this, having given up the Xmas/NY celebrations to continue training only for incompetence and lack of foresight to waste their efforts. The weather is one thing; a lack of planning and provision for it another

All joking aside I am more concerned about the Ogdens seeing no tangible return on their investment regarding the club going forward with their "plan".From an outside perspective how have we improved the self sustainability of the club or is it too early to tell, what has been done by SG to promote the project 5000 ,all we see is last minute info after being prompted. Please someone tell me I'm being over critical but I can't see it.

They are leaving at 11.30am so there is time to make a decision. As I see it - if it is frozen today, it will still be frozen at 9.30am. Unless miracles happen. No idea whether the pitch was covered or not.

As for the Wolves under 21s next Tuesday - move it to next Saturday when we are free. Gives the pitch time to recover and a day time game has to be better than a night game in these temperatures for the pitch. Their under 21s should be flexible

Who does the buck stop with regarding the pitch being ready for a match day?

Has that member of staff requested additional support and equipment and been refused?

Erm, why does the BBC site have the Wolves u21 NLCup game listed as taking place on Tuesday 11th Feb?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rochdale/scores-fixtures/2025-02

Is this correct? Surely Rochdale Football Club would announce to its own supporters about fixture changes before they stumble across it elsewhere? Have I missed something on the club website to explain the reasoning behind this change?

Or are the Trust going to be announcing it?

The RAFC official website is still showing the match being played Tuesday 7th January, as is the Wolves official website.

Ah yeah, also still tickets for sale. Must be a BBC mistake then because moving a game when we’ve already got a fixtures to rearrange, that date may be needed for those or other postponements of far more important league games.

That picture on the Official site is a little worrying, is there already frost into the grass/ground?

Is it recent or a stock picture? Either way not prompting a positive outcome of said inspection?

Isn’t that a view from lowdown by the slightly sloped area that surrounds the pitch, the astroturf section possibly? Can’t see the wall/advertising boards of the Willbutts. The rest of the pitch would presumably have been covered last night when it was colder.

The temperatures aren’t forecast to drop much below zero tonight according to Met Office, and the frost covers should hopefully protect against that.

I posted last night that car windscreens and pavements near Spotland were covered in frost. Not tonight. For now.
