He really struggled with injuries, which was unfortunate as I think we could have done better. I do recall the football being really pedestrian at times. As with a lot of people who have come through the doors at QPR in recent times, he talks a good game.
The frustration was in the first season the football could be terrific. And he was very forward focused, often at the expense of the defence.
By the end we'd gone into this very staid, backwards and sideways, boring nonsense. Blackburn away I remember being a real ordeal. He just seemed to go away from those ideals that he brought in the first place.
I'm sure he'd say he had Eze and Bright in that first season, and in the third one he ended up having to replace Chris Willock with George Thomas, but still.

Absolutely right. Dickie had done the same thing at Bournemouth just before that as well and basically cratered from there when he'd previously looked like the best defender in the league for a little hot streak.

A lot of time for MW . Was fully against him being let go at the time and I think that has been mostly justified.
I just think we should stop yearning for old soldiers to come in and get us through no man’s land. Dont get me wrong I’d prefer MW over Nourry in the DoF role any day of the week but the choice isn’t and won’t be Nourry or MW or nothing. It isn’t even a choice at the moment . MW clearly wants to manage and coach still and I think he likes the cut of his own jib a lot at times and as someone else suggested it felt like ‘timing’ was a bit of factor for this interview too just let people know he’s ‘around’.
Thst might be harsh and I don’t mean to be . In general I’m a big fan although it doesn’t sound it 🤣

We've got a big TW coming up fast and someone has to make a big call PDQ as to whether we trust Kim Jung or not in January. Because if we're all here apoplectic with rage after another mindless TW, it will be more than Christian we'll be throwing to the lions when we go to Millwall on 1 February, it'll be the whole lot of them!

Andersen was a great signing, but Marti had worked with him before. And he's fallen off a cliff.
Joe Hodge, one goal, couldn't fit him in the team, now plays League One.
Isaac Hayden - very good, but almost certainly our annual freebie from Newcastle by way of Jamie Reuben doing Amit a favour.
Michy Frey - 5 minute hot streak at the start of this season but mostly unfit and injured before and since.
Got rid of Dozzell - perfect, no notes.

I'm not saying the owners shouldn't be thinking about it, I'm saying we shouldn't worry about it, but if he's as bad as I believe he is, Hoos can step back in the short term whilst they recruit, you don't have to identify a replacement before getting rid. In any business, a vacancy at that level is better than a bad hire.

I really liked Mark Warburton as our manager, it has all gone downhill since he and Eustace left. For all the politics at play moving Eustace to manager and Warburton to DoF may have been far too extreme for QPR and our further descent into mediocrity, far too many agendas at play at Loftus Road no doubt.

This is why I'm very QPR'd, more so than any other time in my supporting history. I'm just over it. It's not fundamentally the manager that's the issue here and hasn't been for many years.
It's the owners and the overall culture installed from the top down, it's so rotten and until that changes this will continue to happen.

The only consistent in any decision over the past 5 years (since we employed Warburton) have been the owners.
But, if they can't sell us as no one wants to buy us, then we are basically in a slow tailspin.
Just out of interest, and not wanting to put you on the spot, but what do you think would now be the best outcome for the mid/longterm future of the club?
I'm in owners selling up (in an ideal world) camp.

Called out Paladini from Day One Tango and Dwarf was suspicious of from the get go As for The Bungle Brothers I remain steadfast that they, especially Pony Tony, are the reason we’re on a slow highway to hell.
Looking back I do find my Jekyl and Hyde views on Warburton very odd
I’m sort of with Silky here….. maybe he’s making his way up to the balcony? (He’ll get that reference!!!!)

We're all agreed that new owners, preferably more interested and more savvy then the lot we've had since 2011, are required. However, unless the comms stratergy is so good at keeping the impending arrival of savious quiet, then there's no one.
Richard Reilly came in, not sure what his plan was, but I did hear he and his son were raking through everything, which I took to mean they were doing a thorough due diligence. Then a year ago it was reported we'd engaged a US based mob (Montminy & Co) to bring in more finance (and we do seem to have lots more 'corporate partners').
However, for my money, this was about really looking to sell. But given all that we know, suspect, and don't know, we're not an attractive proposition. Seriously, who'd buy it?
Alas, as I've said more than once, I fear it dies before it can be reborn. As others have said: the incompetence looks more a case of managed decline and in the absence of a miracle walking in the door, we're screwed. Not just on the money issue, but really screwed by the fact we've got no one running the show with the business and football smarts. And that's the real problem we've been facing since August 2011. As a club, QPR has been run into the ground by incompetence and we don't have anywhere near enough nous to plan and manage our way out of it like other clubs have.

Very enjoyable interview, thank you & some excellent questions.
I was disappointed when he left, he was & is right about our younger players and I have got a little bit of a recent insight into the academy and tbh it isn't very good, max 4/10. Personally I do not think he left with may enemies here & I would be surprised if he returned here without being offered the top coach/manager position.
In saying that I think that he could be a difficult man to deal with if he didn't get his way.
Overall I think he did a fair(ish) job here, better than most.

We don't know who the call was from, really, and we don't know if the person making the call agreed with it or was just told to make the call. And, let's be honest, others might have a different version altogether.
I loved listening to him, though. The problem with interviews like this is that human nature dictates that they will be biased and one-eyed, but with Warburton the fist might be iron but the glove is oh-so-smooth.
Yep , i am reading between the lines, but there's more lines than a Coote party here , so its quite easy to formulate an educated guess. Who else is going to phone him up about his job being in the balance.? And if others (probably Les) had a different version of events(Les probably under pressure himself) than it still wasn't managed properly. My guess is it got a bit personal between them at the time and their egos clashed. Not good for them and certainly not good for QPR.
