Online Ticketing Issues 11:31 - Oct 26 with 13379 viewsBillyRudd

A friend of mine, an irregular visitor to Dale, mostly from the pay on the gate era, and an internet savvy former business man informed me he would be attending the Bromley game. Champion, so far so good.
On Friday afternoon I received a less than complimentary text about our online ticket site, informing me he had given up on it and woud,nt be wasting anymore time on it, and in addition stating he had tried ringing the club several times and not one had been answered.
A placatory phone call later, I promised to look into it and would sort it. I attempted myself to purchase a ticket on his behalf and failed miserably.
Lo and behold the site now appears to be functioning with the ground schematic available. I informed him of the fact and he said he would take it from there right away.
Half an hour later he rang to say he had purchased a ticket, after having to re -register and chose the digital ticket option after downloading the app and having to re register again. To be then notified that his ticket was ready for collection. He lives 20 miles away.
Observations
The site was presumably down on Friday afternoon, fair enough it happens but the procedure is so counter-intuitive that it was,nt obvious to him, using it for the first time or myself.
Failure to answer phone calls well within business hours. Inexcusable.
If he had been a casual user without prior arrangements to meet up with myself, would the club have lost a sale. Absolutely.
Are the club addressing these issues in pursuit of 5,000 gates. No idea but since everytime I myself purchase a ticket, I have to change my password because I get a banner saying details not recognised, it seems not. Incidentally my friend got the same message.
Do the club actually recognise there are issues with the ease of use and functionality of the procedure. Surely in this day and age when data like number of site hits against actual number of sales are monitored, their own figures should be telling them there are issues.
In this era when discretional spend money is tight and going to get tighter and with so many competing ways to spend that limited money, it is surely paramount that at the point of sale the operation is quick and easy. That or its lost revenue I,m afraid.
We are,nt selling Oasis tickets!

I've re tried to buy a ticket today and still can't purchase a ticket as it won't recognise the account details. Will find something else to do on Saturday now not pissing about anymore with it.

& that’s coming from (I presume) a regular attendee…? Any casual fans trying to navigate the ticketing website will give up as it’s basically a pain in the backside to get what you want. It needs to be sorted.

I managed it... Just and i am ok with the basics of IT.

The site at best is clunky and could / should be improved dramatically if this is the route.

The issue is the fan base is mostly 45+ Not 21 and under.

It is not the most user friendly experience it should take 3 minutes not upwards of 10.

The club do advertise that tickets can be purchased from the club shop for those that are happy to do so and do not get on with the ever changing world.

I can see both sides. I am sure the club will get there.

Conversely, I bought my tickets online without a hitch. Quite an easy process.

What kind of a complete balloon would down vote a post that is 100% factual and an honest assessment of a personal experience? Ah, yes. THAT balloon.

I voted down the post due to its ignorance of the many issues that've been highlighted

When R17ALE posted that he'd managed to get through the system at least he did so with some recognition of the problems others were having

I struggled but fortunately i had the time to drive up to the ground today and bought a couple of tickets from the ladies in the office. Mentally, I've put it alongside all the other glitches that have been ongoing up at the club and resigned myself to waiting for the new plans for the main stand to be revealed. It's been highlighted that for the time being we are stuck with the system but things will improve. The commercial/ hospitality side will improve also, in line with facilities at the club. It needs to happen sooner rather than later because until it happens we can't kick start the club in respect of making it self sufficient. No point worrying about anything, we've been told that things won't change just yet. It's frustrating though.

Managed to sign in first time without a problem or being asked to change password.
Despite being signed in, the existing details held on the system were lacking and had to fill in a few lines. After that, bought a ticket for Saturday with ease which landed in e-mail shortly after.

I fully agree TS

You're right, it'll take time to remove/revamp the legacy systems. Fans are right to bring the glitches to everyone's attention

What i can't abide is the "I'm alright jack" mentally that sees nothing ever get done

We expect a low crowd..

take your pick of green dots today as it looks like we might struggle to get 2500 into Spotland for the game, that's a shame.

I don't thing the IT has stopped people bothering as highlighted the option of buying in person is still there and the club shop staff are excellent.

We all agree it will take time. Hoping for a home win and a second round tie at home that would be perfection.

There’s still no reason been given to not trial a cash turnstile on the Sandy utilising the turnstile which always has someone in anyway.

2500? We’ll do well to get near 2000.

Just to add to the topic , I am a pensioner and like to take my grandson to the matches , I have no option other than get our tickets direct from the ticket office , the online portal does not support two concessionary tickets bought together

2500??

When we played Bromley in the first round seven years ago - at a time when we were a League One club - the crowd was 2,241.

We'll do well to get close to that, I reckon!

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I think you're right, nearer 1500 on Saturday i reckon. It might be a figment of my imagination but didn't we open the Willbuts Lane stand to home fans last time we played Bromley in the cup?

We might do well to reach an aggregate attendance of 2500 for the next two home games.

Knowingly risking the lowest ever crowd for a competitive first team fixture in that stupid competition is something the club will receive justifiable criticism for.

300 will be a decent turn out, a lot of the attendances have been low hundreds. Oldham had a crowd of 455 at their last game (£1 entrance) and Halifax 292. Its not worth opening the stadiums.

Being forced to play first teamers when we’ve already got injury issues is something else which makes our involvement look more ridiculous by the day.

It's a joke, thankfully most fans have more sense and have boycotted the so called competition. McNulty won't want to play the games, he said as much at the last forum.

How come? You can buy a ticket for anywhere in the ground at the ticket office.

We did well then. Lots of new faces near me today. Hope they enjoyed at least 80 minutes of it and want to come back.
