Exeter City on 14:27 - Sep 26 with 2658 views | Dalenet | We need to get £1.50 out of every pound. How true. Love the journey they have been on - if ever a fanbase was engaged. We really could have that too.

True, but they also acquired almost £5 million of debt. It’s extremely difficult to rebuild a rapport & engagement with local businesses who the club have shafted in the past, their trust must have been at their wits end at times. Definitely food for thought.

It needs to come from the top, they need to have the desire and commitment. I said at the time of the supporters meetings..Chairman and Directors who are fully committed wouldn't have needed a invite, they would have stormed those meetings and you would have had a representative at every table showing leadership and engagement. That's how a fan owned club works, there's no 'us and them'. Unless those in the Boardroom are involved it's pointless and the fact that they don't care tells you all you need to know. It's sad but it's the truth. It's a ridiculous scenario when you think about it, no Chairman or set of Directors would have got away with that in the past but this lot are like Teflon, they do as they please and are accountable to nobody. Absolutely, they are an ideal to aim towards but we should also remember our current Board (for all their imperfections) have personally committed hundreds of thousands of pounds to secure the Club's independence form hostile buyers - no member of the Exeter City Trust has had to make anything like that sort of commitment. Further, the 2016 Joseph Rowntree Foundation index of decline of Cities has Rochdale as first (most declined) whereas Exeter is 48th (out of 70). Comparisons with the Exeter City Trust approach need tempering with reality .. and they still don't own St James Park.
