Sad to report on behalf of his family, the death of a Dale fan of 70 years, - Alan Holt - who passed away last Friday in Fairfield Hospital. He was 79 years old.
There will be some of the older Dale fans who remember Alan, who was very active with the Social Union cricket team many years ago, a local footballer, and who was also a staunch Dale fan to the end, though he had spent the majority of 2023 in hospital.
He had previously been a turnstile operator at Dale and done a variety of voluntary match day jobs down the years.
If anyone is interested in the funeral details, please message me, and I will let you know, when the date is arranged tomorrow.

Sad news SL. As you know I did know Alan although not particularly well. I was aware that he had suffered poor health this year. It's always sad to hear of the passing of any Dale fan.
My thoughts are with his family.
