Goodnight Vienna 17:11 - Apr 22 with 19214 views | since58 | Absolutely gutted, 60+years supporting Dale and it comes to such a pathetic end to losing league status in worst lge2 in living memory.
Goodnight Vienna on 19:25 - Apr 22 with 4488 views | 442Dale | Today was disappointing. The way we lost was a clear indication that the multitude of mistakes made over an awful season would inevitably lead to a performance reflecting that over 90 minutes. Inevitability is often a bigger problem than sudden devastation and that’s what we need to change. The way we are wanting to play has to change, because turning up every week and knowing that a lack of positive tempo in favour of retaining the ball (or not) in negative areas is draining enthusiasm.

Goodnight Vienna on 19:51 - Apr 22 with 4370 views | NorthernDale | The damage was done last summer, with a) not sacking Stockdale and b) Stockdale's extremely poor recruitment. We should have addressed it in the January, but failed to do so. Today we went to county with the expectation of us going down today, it would have been worse, we have gone into the game with hope of survival and left after being beat in such a poor manner would have been more devastating. Today was like a long standing wake. I was disappointed by the abuse from some of the younger fans at EEL and some of the other players, it was totally beyond the pale, yes the team was sh*t, but there is a difference between criticising players and abuse. Goodnight Vienna on 19:25 - Apr 22 by Dalenet | No need for that. We have so few fans as it is we can't be divided. Fans are allowed to express a view and lets be honest we are all pretty gutted right now. |
To be fair they're pretty much saying they'll only support the team if they're in the efl or are at the top of the national league. I'd rather have fans ready to be in the trenches and stick with the club through thick and thin

Goodnight Vienna on 17:20 - Apr 22 by kel | 1 shot in 90 minutes sums this lot up. Still, apparently it’s better to be defensive rather than try to score. |
You would have thought we were mid table with nothing to play for. I cannot for the life of me understand when that display can be acceptable given we knew we had to win the game to have any chance of survival. I’m absolutely disgusted with the management they have that mentality on a day when everything was at stake for RAFC Words fail me.

Goodnight Vienna on 23:33 - Apr 22 by 49thseason | According to McNulty this is high tempo possession football and we have to play like this or no one will want to buy our young kids. ...No mention of attacking.. scoring goals .. all the things crowds turn up for. So today we had 52 % of the possession (tick) one shot none on target and no corners ......Well done chaps doubles all round!! Just what we needed. And they wonder why the paying public shout abuse. I am afraid there will have to be an awful lot of soul searching and harsh words before this shitsandwich gets sorted out. |
High tempo? HIGH FRICKING TEMPO is he having an effing laugh. I bet if we had played with some semblance of tempo at least we would have felt a tad more entertained at least.

I couldn’t believe my ears when I listened to that. And apparently he wants to stick around so he’s basically telling the board he wants the job and this will be the playing style. They’ll give it him too. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Goodnight Vienna on 23:43 - Apr 22 with 3734 views | Cassielady | I'm gutted as every Dale fan is right at this moment but I will still support the Dale in whatever leaugue we are in come rain snow or sunshine singing for the Dale. I've been a supporter of Rochdale for a while now and seen us been promoted twice and relegated. Yes things are grim for us but right now but whatever happens I will still support the Dale no matter what.

Goodnight Vienna on 19:23 - Apr 22 by SaxonDale | Damage was done for this season from last January onwards. Looking back at the first game of the season, there are only 5 starters who played today and by then I presume the majority of the budget had been frittered away on players who quite simply are league standard. Hindsight will also tell us that Bentley was the completely wrong manager for the job. In a squad desperately short on quality he seemed to fall out with too many players and didn’t get the most out of the ones he didn’t. I know his style of football hasn’t been for everyone, but McNulty has been the only person to get any sort of tune out of this squad- whilst having ‘none of his own players’ and playing three teams in or around the play-offs. If I was the board I’d be sitting McNulty down in the next week, asking how and where they can support him next season and what his visions are for the next year.* Following that I’d draw up and action plan to ensure real experience was brought in to support him** * assuming there isn’t a great manager available with non-league football experience, who plays attacking football and will join a skint club who might have different owners in the next 3 months **not Sammy Lee |
If Hartlepool don't keep him then you should move heaven and earth to get John Askey in.
Goodnight Vienna on 03:00 - Apr 23 with 3517 views | Alan_ADale | car crash interview. erm times a lot. content woeful. jim mcnulty cannot ever be full time manager. the play on the pitch says that never mind the platitudes. graham bloody barrow did the "other clubs want me" claim after being rubbish. not falling for that. we have awful players. the caretaker manager is not up to it. sorry. our eyes tell us all we need to know. relegated from the football league. on field disaster. full on rehash needed. dunphy in.
Goodnight Vienna on 08:02 - Apr 23 with 3412 views | Barrowdale | Jim comes across as a decent chap but with an unswerving view on the style of play he wants, even though it’s turgid to watch and utterly unsuccessful. I dont want class a academy starlets really, I want two wingers, Steve Whitehall and Ronnie Moore and to gome home entertained. I care not a jot that its not the modern way because it’s shite entertainment. Something has to change but I fear it wont. Sad day🥲

It's BBM MK II. Someone make it stop.
Goodnight Vienna on 08:49 - Apr 23 with 3340 views | sooty_dale | We don't, and likely won't, have the quality of players required to play the way Jim wants to effectively. I won't be renewing if he gets the job and will pick and choose games next season.
Goodnight Vienna on 09:12 - Apr 23 with 3250 views | NorthernDale | I believe that Jim will remain at the Dale in some form of coaching role, but he is not ready for a managers role at present. So we need to get somebody in, with the experience of the NL and possibly of the EFL, a record of reasonable success and the ability to play good football and recruit good players. So who? That is the million dollar question, Askey would be the idea choice, he is North West based, he has the experience of the NL and likes to play attractive football. The question is his contract at Hartlepool until the summer or longer and would he come to the Dale.

Would Russell Penn (Kidderminster) or Craig Harrison (TNS) be a good fit for the managerial role

Jim is clearly on the same chapter of the coaching manual that BBM was when here. The one that says results are secondary to performance, and tippy-happy f*rting around at the back is the way to go. It got BBM a job at Citeh to be fair. But he took us down from L1 whilst working-up that CV. All indulged with a ludicrous contract extension by the highly-remunerated Bottomley.

Goodnight Vienna on 21:54 - Apr 23 with 2523 views | 49thseason | I guess part of the equation here is whether the BoD think the club can continue to develop saleable assets through the Academy and it helps if the 1st team play the same style of football. Its arguable that we have only maintained EFL status up up to this season because of Academy sales and Cup ties. Losing Cup tie money now though seems inevitable. Maybe the MRTK report will shed light on this proposition. My belief is that we have to build bigger crowds and selling talent doesn't do that. Money has to be put into a consistent and persistent marketing drive to fill seats in the stadium which in turn will build better teams ... but you have to have a decent, exciting product on the pitch to do that which counters the possession football but no goals scenario we seem to be having at the moment and which has cost us 2 relegations in 3 seasons.

its odd really..despite the fact it leads to the odd calamity from teams at all levels they still persist with it. It must bring more positives to their game plan than negatives overall. Perhaps the days of the keepers hoofing the ball into the sky upfield to the 6 ft centre forward to head onto his attacking partner are long gone.

Crawley's 2nd goal on Saturday. What more totally efficient football could you ask for. Wonderful 1st touch and finish.

What can't speak, can't lie. That's a shocking indictment on the management teams, the football philosophy, the rank bad players (not all), shocking recruitment policies and if that doesn't serve as a wake up call to those who would persist with more of the same, nothing will. Change or die.
