Rishi Sunak is to be the next PM 16:13 - Oct 24 with 20452 views | Juzzie | He was elected without a vote from party members which makes me wonder why we had to have party members voting last time and not this time? UK's first British Asian prime minister and at 42 is the youngest PM in over 200 years. How long will this one last? (ironically "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC is blaring out of my speakers as I typed this thread!) Earlier, Boris Johnson pulled out of the leadership race, saying he had the support needed to stand but it would not be "the right thing to do". This coming from a man who has no idea of what that even means. More like he didn't have the support and had to save face. Just fk off and wither away, please. [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 16:18]

Rishi Sunak is to be the next PM on 16:19 - Oct 24 with 9463 views | slmrstid | I hope you've got your "Rishi Sunak resigns as PM" post drafted too Juzzie... No membership vote as in the end no other MP has stood against him. All a bit weird this but we'll see where it leads! I could be wrong and I'm no Tory but he does feel to me to be a safer pair of hands to lead the country for now, certainly much more so than Truss. Would still rather have an election though myself.
Rishi Sunak is to be the next PM on 16:23 - Oct 24 with 9438 views | Toast_R | So bored with all this. Let him get on with it for a couple of years and lets have a GE in 2024. If he's crap then Labour will win it won't they?
Rishi Sunak is to be the next PM on 16:26 - Oct 24 with 9416 views | Juzzie | I don't think I'll have to do a "Rishi Sunak resigns" thread just yet as I think he'll do enough to steady the ship but doesn't mean he's any good as such, though time will always tell. Just better than the two before him which let's face it, my guinea pigs could do a better job than those two, heck, a lettuce lasted longer than the last one. [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 16:27]

No membership vote as they could'nt trust the 80 thousand idiots who voted for Truss's fairytale economic programme not to be as gullible and stupid second time round. Matthew Parris (ex Tory MP) said in The Times in August 'she is crackers', Dominic Cummings (ex Tory Strategist) said in a tweet in June 'she is about as close to properly crackers as anybody I've met in parliament' (and that includes Michael Fabricant!) Rishi Sunak said her economic plans were a 'fairytale' and she would 'crash the economy' Yet the thought of being told honestly by somebody who was'nt a 'typical Tory' was too much for the party membership who voted for Truss regardless. Every one of those 80 thousand Tory party members who voted for Truss should be removed from the Electoral Roll until they attend a basic re-education programme to prove they are mentally sane and fit to vote or personally underwrite the billions in cost we are now all sharing due to their economic illiteracy, racism, whatever.
Rishi Sunak is to be the next PM on 16:33 - Oct 24 with 9355 views | stevec | Imagine he will do whatever the banks tell him to do. Love how Mervyn King was giving it the big one about Brits not saving enough when the banking system systematically encouraged huge mortgage lending at ludicrously low interest rates, the like of which made saving either a complete impossibility for those with mortgages or pointless for those carrying cash. Bastard should be run out of town.

I hear all that but........ she's got a cracking pair on her. As for Rishi -- he was my choice even before the Peroxide Moron was ousted. I liked the cut of his jib over Lockdown(s) and for me a man/lady with a handle on the economy will always be the right choice. I wish him well in his two years before the blue wall turns into a blue rinse and disappears down the drain

I hear you L-Block, Apparently when she was put forward as the prospective Tory candidate for South Norfolk, it was leaked that she was having an affair with her assigned mentor from the party, The party members went ape as she was only recently married but she gave a presentation which apparently went down really well with the local farmers and gentlemen of the association, who changed their minds, no doubt probably hoping they were in with a shout too!

The Govt has made an utter mess of the economy. Millions face the worst winter of their lives. And over 99% of the population continues to be ignored. This is not democracy in any way, shape or form.

I’m looking forward to the next Labour government changing the law making it compulsory for a GE if a PM leaves office. Maybe make it mandatory fora by-election if a sitting member changes parties.
