It’s good that there’s been a reduction for younger fans but the impact on ‘pay on the day’ after rising prices for adults will have to be monitored. Looking at promotions like 3 games for the price of two etc may be an option.

A difficult one this as the club will be impacted with inflation at almost 10% and their utility costs probably doubled. We have ony sold 1200 season tickets so far and this matchday price announcement might just encourage people to step forward and buy a season card as the savings look even more impressive. Maybe that is part of the plan to stimulate the season card sales.

Of course not everybody can justify a season card and so buying the Rewards card is worth doing if you plan to get to 6 or more games.

Really hope it does help the take up of season cards. There's also the finance option of the season cards as well.

"Although there is a small increase on adult matchday ticket prices, Season Card prices have been frozen and represent great value."

1900 sold. Possibly a fair few in the Sandy leaving it to the 11th hour and others who don't mind where they sit? With a fair wind we should exceed 2k again.

There's even a weekly pre-season prize draw every Friday for potential SC buyers who haven't bought yet so 1 last chance to win.

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

Reached the 2000 mark for season tickets.

Does the rewards card include cup games?

No

The gate money is split between the competing clubs and ticket prices are normally reduced anyway. It's a tenner for the Burton cup tie, for instance.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Cheers, it still looks value for money if you do 6 or more games.

Reached the 2000 mark for season tickets.

After a few seasons of less-than-inspiring home form, and against the backdrop of people being squeezed financially, that is a brilliant effort.

Hopefully we see some initiatives across the season to bring in floating / casual fans, and the home form (entertainment as much as results) inspires them to come back.

Was thinking perhaps anyone who buys a match ticket on Saturday or in August could have the cost deducted from a season ticket if the choose to upgrade.

All things considered that is an excellent number.

One slight negative, we've had a bit of stick online for away fan pricing (think I saw online that Grimsby are paying £24 for adults and £14 for kids). Would / should we consider going with the '20 is plenty' approach and cap our ticket prices at £20 for away fans so long as the opposition do the same on the return fixture? Effectively we'd have to encourage 1 more adult to attend per 5 tickets sold for us to have the same ticket revenue in.

But then the prices would have to be reduced in the home ends for those games. Agree with your point in general though, our matchday prices are too high.

We charge £24 for the mainstand now so same as away fans. It is high but so many other clubs charge that. It is more of an incentive to buy a season card or the membership card thing. The club need to charge what it costs to put the games on and we don't have a sugar daddy - the club has to break even.

The chairman was hoping for 2500 season card sales so we are short of that, although we are not far off and have sold more than I expected. With 600 pay on the day in the home ends last weekend, the price may not be the factor that puts people off. The quality of the football is more important

Not that it makes it right, but it's £25 at Swindon for adults for a much more inferior facility and view than away fans get at Spotland.

I would develop a scheme were those on universal credit for example, can on a game by game basis buy a discounted match ticket through some form of scheme. Is there any scheme within the club to work with the council and other bodies to develop summer holidays activities, in which disadvantage children get free tickets on a game by game basis, and one that could be extended to term time when schools return. This would potentially widen our fan base by getting young fans to support the Dale and increase our fan base in the long-term.

I must admit when I purchased my season ticket, I did not think we would sell 2,000, never just short of 2,200, so it is a well done to everyone involved.

This is exactly where I think a reciprocal approach works - we both charge £20 instead of £24/£25 in the hope of driving more people to the game and making the additional revenue through bar / food takings etc.

I totally get the point about the home pricing - is the answer that main stand prices are dropped to £20 for the agreed '20 is plenty' games? & then potentially a free brew / pie / shop discount offer that week for season ticket holders?

I don't know what the answer it, but anything that drives attendances (either season tickets or POTD) must be worth considering.
