Dividing up the money from EFL to clubs 16:32 - Jun 4 with 2799 views49thseason

This is an interesting thread from Andy Holt at Accrington Stanley. The whole EFL cash distribution from TV rights is weighted to the detriment of L1 and L2
More evidence that the EFL isn't fit for purpose. The % splits are scandalous.

Too much common sense, the EFL will never buy it

No clubs in the Championship will vote for an equal share - turkeys don't vote for xmas, The EFL need to reduce the 75% requirement to a maximum of 66%.

Poll: So who do you believe - Hendo or the Board?

The bigger and more realistic change I see is bringing the National League into the EFL. This would instantly put that 75% into to reach and tip the balance away from the Championship clubs.

I liked the idea of giving every EFL club say £1m and then carving up the rest by divisions, but getting £600k from a pot that has over £100m in it is derisory. Surely it must be the quality of the football that decideds winners and losers not just a bigger handout from the EFL which is designed to keep the top teams winning. The whole competition is compromised by an unequal payout to the members, bringing in another division simply spreads the jam thinner. Its astichup that seems impossible to undo.

Ideally it'd be linear payments top to bottom but unfortunately the Premier League has made that pretty unlikely. And the system we have now will be difficult to change.
