Rochdale v Clydebank 1972 22:20 - Apr 4 with 2175 viewsbankiestu

I'm looking for information on two pre-match friendlies between Rochdale and Clydebank in 1972, particularly the second game which was played at Spotland.

I don't even have the scorer in the second game

Clydebank 1-0 Rochdale (Including match report)

Hello bankiestu

Best I can do is this from a Dale archive book:

Maybe TVOS1907 can help?

Unfortunately, our local newspaper journalist from that era who might know, the great Les Barlow, passed away recently so we can't ask him.

Copies of the Rochdale Observer newspaper from that time will hopefully be housed at Touchstones, which is the best place to find match reports.

Interesting to see Dr Merton Brookes as "honorary medical adviser" on the programme scan. He had a surgery near Spotland on Edenfield Rd and was our family doctor at the time.

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. If there is anything else on these games I would love to see it.

I've always had a soft spot for Rochdale. I think I must be attracted to a club whose supporters have suffered nearly as much as the Bankies fans have.

You look safe from the drop now. Must have been a hard season to take after having a few years in League one.

Thanks again!
