Today's game. 18:34 - Mar 5 with 12673 views | 14bowlers | Absolutely bloody awful performance. Could not make the game, but watched on TV. No idea, no passion, stupid mistakes again, playing a left footed has been at right fullback, what more to complain about . I am at a point now, where we need to change something, manager maybe, not my choice to be clear, but it is not working. Disolutioned.

Are you happy with McNulty playing in that position? Jimmy K and O'Keefe at right wing back
| Possession with progression. |

I don't think it's so much the issue that McNulty played (thought it might be for some), it's that he played on the right hand side of the three and looked totally uncomfortable. Ball did ok there against Carlisle and maybe could've played again, or even Keohane and have O'Keeffe drafted back in at wingback.

I think Keohane against their beanpole, muscular forwards would have been even worse than putting Big Jim there. Bottom line is we need Downing back and quick.

By implication you did. No, I wasn't happy to see him there, but neither was I happy with Ball there on Tuesday as we lost him in midfield. We need Downing back ASAP.

Need a board that know what they are doing and some investment that can actually bring in players proven in this league, rather than selling off the best players to be able to pay the bills. Start a crowdfund and a bucket collection now, maybe able to buy a half decent player in the summer! |
Fook off baldy. What makes you so sure you could do any better. you are nothing more that a complete failure , and thief as well.

A back four. I’ve no idea why RS is so adverse to it. Keohane, O’Connell, Dorsett, Clark We might then finally be able to give Campbell some support up top. Ball has proven to be one of our biggest goal threats, playing him at centre half to accommodate a formation that clearly hasn’t worked all season is borderline BBM’esque. Is the team improving? No. Has January made us weaker? Absolutely | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Today's game. on 16:55 - Mar 6 with 2560 views | NorthernDale | Having made the trip down yesterday and it was a long and knackering trip their and back, I was dismayed and slightly embarrassed at our inept performance. The first goal was good to be fair, but the Dale looked like a average non-league team, which was total contrast to the Northampton game. I am fed up with the passing sideways and backwards all the time, rather going forward and putting pressure on their defence. The statistics showed we had 64% possession, but 1 shot on target and this is because we seem to constantly pass the ball between the midfield and defence. We improved when he made changes and introduced Charman and O'Keefe, but by that stage the game was lost. Rochdale lacked any form of structure and leadership, in fact the team looked totally rudderless, and that is not the first time, I have noticed that about the Dale this season and it is up to Robbie to address the issue. Robbie needs to change the way the team plays, it is alright to say they do well in training, but come to the match day, we see the same errors most games and we get is the same soundbites from the manager. I want Stockdale to succeed, but I am getting worried that he is not learning from his and the teams mistakes. [Post edited 6 Mar 2022 16:59]

BBM was crucified for his “philosophy” yet Stockdale seems to get off very lightly with his insistence to stick with a failed formation. Everyone knew this season would be tough, but all things considered I honestly can’t believe how bad we are. It’s not right.

Today's game. on 17:47 - Mar 6 with 2427 views | EllDale | I think that it’s been mentioned before elsewhere that three at the back was previously thought to be essential because O’Keeffe wasn’t good enough defensively to operate as a conventional right back in a back four. But if he isn’t playing then surely this argument isn’t valid? Hang on though, we haven’t got a good old fashioned right back have we? SAJ can play there but he’s not a right back.

If O’Keeffe isn’t good enough to play in a back four then it begs the questions… Why didn’t we sign someone else?
Today's game. on 19:13 - Mar 6 with 2264 views | boromat | I think the formation is a result of the players we've got. Just don't have the players for 4 at the back at the moment. Maybe with Downing we could make it work. Think it's also a little unfair on RS about not changing the formation as he did do against Harrogate and we shipped 3 goals. We're a make shift team at the moment with the January changes. And some of those incoming are very much stop gap signings who probably don't want to be here next season. We need a proper summer transfer window and a bit of stability in the team/squad. Hopefully we get to 50 points and can then start trying things out and building for next season. Give players like Brierley a chance. I do think a no fear youngster or 2 could help us out.

All this Swiss Army stuff is rubbish. Keohane is goosed whenever he comes up against anyone with pace or physicality. He is only any good playing as an atacking midfield player. Anywhere else and we are looking at a bog standard L2/non league player who passes backwards whenever he can. O Keefe has not been as good as last year since January, which kind of makes sense of what Clough says about him. On his day; very good offensively , but defensively weak.
Today's game. on 20:43 - Mar 6 with 2038 views | James1980 | Didn't Robbie say at the recent forum something about not being able to play 4 3 3. Did he give the impression on one player not being able to play as a RB or that it was an issue with the whole squad? Wasn't it Nigel Clough who said O'Keefe isn't good as a RB but will do well in a team that plays with WB's. But Corey's lack of competence as a Right Back might not be the only reason we are playing 3 CB's. Which combination of our current centre backs would you be happy with in a 2?

The only centre back pairing that could work for me is O'Connell and Downing but I'm not fully convinced they'd have the pace.

And one of those has been injured so Stockdale's hands are tied to some extent. Do we have the players to play in a 3 5 2 effectively at least that puts 2 up top.

Play whatever formation he likes, but if defenders can't defend a simple cross into the box, then put any one of 2 dodgy keepers behind them its hardly surprising we'll continue to concede cheap goals.

Cheap goal conceding has become the way before the arrival of RS. We can't get different keepers in till the close season and a new manager will have the same options to pick from for the back line.

Today's game. on 08:58 - Mar 7 with 1554 views | finberty | Or a centre back pairing of Downing and Dorsett, with EOC in a defensive midfield role, where, so legend has it, he excelled for Bury. Then we can attack in numbers. By the way, a week ago, Matty Done left the pitch to a standing ovation, following an effective display up top. On Saturday he didn't feature. Are we so overloaded with good forwards that this decision made any sense at all?

Saturday I'd start with. Dorsett and Downing (If fit) as CBs O'Connell just in front as sweeper Clarke and O'Keefe on the wings Ball, Keohane and Kelly in the middle Charman Campbell. Lining up as 4 4 2 with a midfield diamond with O'Connell at the bottom of said diamond Or 3 2 3 2 https://www.sportsrec.com/play-3232-formation-soccer-2339847.html
