Hornets on Sunday 19:31 - Feb 24 with 301575 views | EllDale | They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment. The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day. Wonder what that’s all about?

I don't know. I don't like the assumption that because Hornets are feeling hard done to, it must therefore be the fault of Dale.

And i agree But therein lies the problem, because until there's more clarity that's the perception that might arise and its the last thing we need when trying to keep support for our fight as high as possible I get why confidentiality might be an issue, but sometimes there's a greater good to be acheived by having the facts established, to allay any false perceptions

No problem.... tell the public that is the issue, give Hornets the necessary notice... dont bleed them out with Matchday sanctions that really doesn't benefit anyone, especially fans who support both clubs.

Yes, what some people don’t realise is there are quite a few who support both teams. I sometimes sit next to a bloke I’ve known since the 1960’s and the Sandy Lane End. He follows the football home and away even now, and the rugby league at home. I don’t know where he was yesterday, it was all a bit of a mixup seating wise.
Hornets on Sunday on 11:51 - Feb 28 with 4059 views | 49thseason | This thread is almost entirely speculation, no one actually knows any precise details of what and what has not happened. (other than the historical tales of mutual animosity). The football club should maybe publish a list of its charges and allow everyone to see how the land lies. If Hornets want to use the scoreboard, they will also need to hire the operator for the afternoon. There is no point in opening the bars if the cost of staffing, electricity etc. is greater than the profit from doing so. RAFC staff worked late on Tuesday, are they expected to work Saturdays and Sundays too or is RAFC simply expected to hand over the keys to Hornets for the afternoon and hope they dont break anything? Hornets accounts are due 15th March, we might know more then.

If the bar didn’t make a profit yesterday it never will. From what I saw plenty of ale was being drunk on the terraces. Near the end of the game the bloke sat next to me said “ See that Barrow fan sat two rows in front of us, I’ve been counting and he’s on pint no 8, I hope he’s not going home on a coach !”

Fairly certain they’ve trained somebody up to do the scoreboard. He supports both clubs. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Hornets on Sunday on 12:13 - Feb 28 with 3971 views | D_Alien | In the first week in April, Rochdale Council will be voting on a motion in support of the Fair Game initiative, as a way of adding their support to seeing an overhaul of the financial management of football league clubs Do we want them to support that motion? Of course they should, it shouldn't even be a matter of debate. We also know that there's plenty of support for Hornets within the council, especially at the 'higher' levels. So the current unsatisfactory situation needs resolving, and it needs to be seen to be resolved - hence the need for transparency Just as our pitch invaders put a cloud on our public image, so might this issue with Hornets unless it's dealt with publicly; just as our board very publicly made sure those pitch invaders were dealt with, and without hesitation [Post edited 28 Feb 2022 12:18]

Do Wigan Athletic post statements on behalf of Wigan Warriors? [Post edited 28 Feb 2022 15:37]

Hornets on Sunday on 15:48 - Feb 28 with 3521 views | EllDale | There's no comparison between the DW Stadium and the COA in many ways. For example, Wigan Warriors played a non-televised home league game last Thursday night. The reason was that Wigan Athletic do not allow them to play less than two days before or less than two after one of their games and they had a fixture last Saturday. And that's rigid policy.

I followed both clubs for years. Football on Saturday and mid week, Rugby League on Sunday. Ask me about the Dale in the 60’s and 70’s and then the 90’s. I remember it all. I only stopped watching the football because my wife got a Saturday job. Then two games a weekend got a bit expensive.

https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/rugby-league/wigan-warriors-in-negotiations-wit I think the comparators with Wigan are probably good ones. For the DW Stadium, football club owns 85%, council owns 15%. Football club control the lease. "Radlinski, referencing an interview Latics chairman Talal Al Hammad gave Wigantoday, said: "You will have seen that the new owner has made a visit to the town recently and made some claims about the stadium being a football stadium. The reality is it is. "We’re tenants of the stadium and they've come in with new ownership with a with a new chief executive who I meet every week and I have a really good relationship. "And they've made some bold claims that they're going to turn the stadium blue and all this kind of stuff. We can't do anything about that, unfortunately. So, we'll be working strong to build our relationships and to try and work it through. They have said to us that our rent will be going up, which we're working through at the moment. The negotiations are ongoing and they’re in the right spirit. Here the football club owns 100% of the stadium and has done since 2016 so before the current Hornets set-up was in place in 2020 and before the current board of the football club was in place. Fans of either code (or both) will have their say but in making them tenant in 2016, Rochdale Council sold Rochdale Hornets out to being a tenant and the football club to being their landlord. Those who did that deal for Dale, Hornets and the Council in 2016 might have done a good lease, a bad lease or a really average lease but that is the crux of what the relationship is. What has happened to RFL funding cuts post-Covid is regrettable for Hornets - as it is for all other RFL clubs - but that is not the landlord's problem and a lease is a lease. Wigan being a good and comparable example and there Wigan are putting rent up, not down.
