Robbie Stockdale 21:22 - Feb 17 with 2796 views | HullDale | I thought he came across brilliantly tonight. Obviously we always want a manager to do well, but I can't remember wanting a manager to do well as much as I do with him. Articulate, honest, good humour, detailed without singling out individuals. I think next season is where we really see what he can do. Some interesting comments about not being able to sign players in the summer (aluded to that it was related to some of the false accusations about club finances). Not sure exactly what was meant by 'not able to', but if it was related to the Morton House / Curran / Jarvis claims about not surviving til the end of the year they have even more to answer for than I thought. Potentially having a direct impact on the manager's ability to recruit, and therefore on the first team, is just another reason to fight to keep them as far away as possible from OL11.
Robbie Stockdale on 21:32 - Feb 17 with 2719 views | isitme | I agree. As always, he gave as frank a response to all questions as he could without hanging anyone out to dry. It's obviously that's he is doing a good job with the hand he was dealt and that the squad we started the season with was pretty much what could be cobbled together. Reading between the lines after the first few games he had to change how he wanted to play as the players at his disposal didn't suit/weren't up to it and that he doesn't really fancy either of the keepers. Cashman is a sad case and hopefully he can get himself back on track, as he looked promising at the beginning of the season.

You did a little; he's left Mansfield now and is our player. What he meant was that having him to the end of the season was effectively an extension of his loan as he had already been with us up to January.

Robbie Stockdale on 21:51 - Feb 17 with 2533 views | HullDale | I understood it as... - We wanted to sign him on a 12m loan deal in Summer, but circumstances (I understood as related to false accusations about finances) meant we couldn't - We signed him on a 6 month deal, with a view to something in Jan - In January, he was ready to sign for a Championship club and be loaned back to us for the rest of the season, but it fell through - After it fell through, we signed him permanently (on a free) from Mansfield - We'll review the longer term with him in Summer at a guess, Mansfield were paying some of his wages. us signing him on a free got him off their books, and in Summer we can look to try and agree a longer term deal if it works for everyone. Did anyone shed any tears at this one?

No. 1) Nobody had anything to hide. 2) There wasn't one narcissist on the top table. 3) The subtle, tongue in cheek question about a contract extension for our manager was received with mirth, not tears, when the penny dropped. There was, however, a sharp intake of breath in the room when we were told how poorly the previous "regime" / "me me me me me" pretend custodians of the club were incapable of presenting proper monthly management accounts to the board of directors. Slackness (self-interest?) all round from the "incredibly hard working me me me me me". As ever, ineptitude from the self-proclaimed "Mr Rochdale me me me me me". We'll be saving shedloads of money now me me me me me is no longer here. UTDNFS | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Robbie Stockdale on 10:00 - Feb 18 with 1526 views | SuddenLad | RS explained that he feels Danny has had a dip in form, but knows he is very capable and can get back to where he was, when he was in the 1st team. He sees him train every day, sees him grafting, but wants that extra bit that's missing. Not 'sad' in a personal sense, just that he has been struggling to match his earlier levels.

It's sad that he came in with a bang and has appeared to fade with a whimper. Unfortunately it happens a lot with young players when they have their first experience of men's football, especially former Premier League academy players. The demands can be a massive culture shock, especially physically. A football league season is much more demanding than the under 23 league. Also a lot of the ex academy players were earning more than players in League Two who have a mortgage and three kids to feed, who are dependent on earning a new contract. A major criticism of the premier league academies is that for the vast majority of players who fall through the leagues they have too much money too soon and lack the drive to push on and overcome the rejection of being released. Rathbone has been a notable exception. I do though feel sorry for Cashman who is a long way from home and Covid rules would not have made it easy for him.
