Game off tomorrow? 15:30 - Feb 11 with 7283 views | Dalenet | Does anybody have any idea of the risk of the game being off tomorrow? It's 7 days since the last minute postponement and the club hasn't provided any update on the state of the pitch, whether it has drained and whether it can cope with a days rain forecast tomorrow. I ask because I am not prepared to travel another 3 hours to Rochdale if there is a risk. I am a bit disappointed that there hasn't been any update on what has happened to correct the drainage challenges since Saturday and whether we have got some rain covers in place to protect the pitch ahead of tomorrow.

So up today staying over and returning dahn sarf after the game. It would be good to have some reassurance that unless there is a monsoon the club is confident the game will go ahead.

Look on the bright side James - a night in the Cemy supping Dale Ale tonight is a win-win. The rest is just gravy!

I won't be venturing that far this evening, however I will be making an additional donation to the cause as I had a work based favour on the way here.

Game off tomorrow? on 21:57 - Feb 11 with 6464 views | D_Alien | I have to agree with the OP that its disappointing there's been no news coming out of the club about the pitch during the week The email which now arrives telling us there's a game on tomorrow is a welcome initiative, but it only makes sense if there's a degree of assurance that buying a ticket will be worthwhile - bearing in mind that some people mightn't be able to make a re-arranged midweek fixture In defence of the club, those who're steering us with immense calmness and resolve through such uncharted and shark-filled waters will probably have little experience of pitch drainage issues. The lack of news though, leads towards a suspicion that issues may have come to light about the pitch revamp (at great and ongoing expense) which are extremely unwelcome. I really hope this isn't the case, but as fans - and shareholders - we deserve to be told

Two rite hits rong The forecast (on BBC at least) is for just light rain during the afternoon and game itself, and its certainly not started yet (about a mile from the ground) Anyone thinking of travelling shouldn't be put off, though obviously circumstances can change [Post edited 12 Feb 2022 9:04]

The forecast has definitely improved for this afternoon, hope they are correct! Looks like it will be a typical Exiles Day in a few weeks time - worrying more about the pitch than the match 😉 | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Game off tomorrow? on 11:03 - Feb 12 with 5581 views | Dale_4_Life | Especially after last week you would expect a club statement. It's the little things that are important. Another 2pm call off will be very disappointing. Hardly any rain yesterday but the rain has now arrived at Spotland. More importantly are covers on and what is the ground staff master plan to get today's game on?

We don’t have rain covers, or at least we didn’t. Agree with others though, there could and should have been more information about last week’s postponement - interview with the ground staff for example.

In other words... the water wasn't getting to the drains before the intervention of deep vertidraining A very difficult issue for the new board to have to deal with, on top of everything else

This raises serious concerns which fly in the face of what the incredibly hard working one told us in earnest last July/August. We were enthusiastically told a brand new pitch had been laid costing in excess of £600,000 over ten years with guarantees in place and structural maintenance from the pitch company to be performed as part of the ten year deal. Fast forward just 8 months and we've had one PP due to rain and we now learn that verti-draining was required to give access to the drains. If the new pitch had been created using expensive fibre sand and laser levelled at the outset, the water should still be easily able to drain without the need to bypass an alleged black layer which has formed in just months, despite no obvious wrong sand being used. Black layers typically take years to form. Given the mild winter we've had, we can't even blame frost damage. The only conclusion that is possible to reach, is that corners were cut in the quality of materials used last summer. As I've said before, that is one contract I'd be going through with a tooth comb. If there's a smell of bull shit, then it's probably bull shit. That much we've all learned!

Game off tomorrow? on 20:35 - Feb 16 with 3573 views | finberty | Wasn't there some suggestion during the time of the pitch renovation that what the Club would end up with was a compromise on the original plan? Therefore the eventual service provided was of a lesser degree of thoroughness than first intended? Money may have been a factor.
