And how many of those were over the last 2 seasons or so? As he was lucky then didn’t score in the first half where he was stuck down on the ground after messing up his punch from their corner.

As ever since he had his last full season with us (which was 17/18, when we came 17th) he’s started 10 premier league games, over those 10 games has conceded 26 goals (McCarthy on the other hand has conceded 158 goals over 98 games and (so an average on 1.6 goals a game (which is one less goal than Forster)). Over those 10 games we’ve won 5 and lost 5, with only 2 of those 5 wins having a clean sheet, with both being games where the opponents had 5 shots on target in total (so it’s not like he had a lot to do). His distribution, positioning at set pieces and communication with the defence is shocking, McCarthy though is certainly far from perfect (and I sure do want a new keeper as soon as possible) but at least his distribution is decent enough and he doesn’t fall to the floor at every set piece where he can’t reach out. Sorry but today’s game just showed that he’s certainly not as good as people have been acting and didn’t do any amazing saves whatsoever and showed of where he struggles (which is in too many areas for a PL keeper).
So why would you start the worse keeper (as most football sites have foresters average performance rating worse than McCarthy’s and that’s not me saying that, but the people who do all the stats and such), over the better, along with the fact that the worse keeper is just about to be released as well as being on ridiculous wages and isn’t too happy here? As it makes 0% sense to have him starting all games when McCarthy’s fit again.

Stats for keepers are bollocks when the number of appearances is vastly different

FF clean sheet percentage in the PL is a big chunk better than McCarthy overall in their careers, and McCarthy has most definitely lost too many points for Saints this season.

McCarthy has let in too many that a PL keeper should save, and Forster seems the more likely if the 2 to keep those out. Forster can be flappy coming for the ball and is a shit kicker (as is McCarthy) but has to be given a run in the absence of anyone better.

Well stats are fair when they’re playing similar opponents and have the same defences, hence why Forsters stats from the Koeman seasons are irrelevant as he had soo little to do with one best of the best defences in the league in front of him. Whilst when you compare the likes of Allison to Pickford it’s not as fair as one doesn’t have much to do whilst the other has too much to do.
Yeah he has had more clean sheets and sure was better in the past, but it’s not really a fair comparison when you compare one keeper who’s got Van Dijk and Fonte in front of him, whilst the others got Stephens and Bednerak! Hence why when they’ve both had the same defenders in front of them, McCarthy’s average goals conceded has been 1 lower per game than Forster’s.
But no I do (to a certain degree) agree that Forster should be in goal whilst McCarthy is out, but once McCarthy is back/we sign a new keeper in January (but we’ll need a bit more than luck for that)/he turns poor and our opponents take advantage of it (in which case Cabellero should go in goal), then he should be straight out of the starting 11 again.

We've won 5 of the last 8 Premier League games Forster has played in, and, of course his record in cup games is even better. He makes such a massive difference to the team's performance.

We still conceded the lead twice. We won due to scoring three goals not down to who the keeper was.
