I’ve just watched their goal on frame by frame replay and Graham’s playing him onside. He’s well behind the rest of the defence.

Also not sure what happened with the recent foul but the commentators and Alan McInally say the Orient player is very lucky to still be on the pitch.

Graham playing him on was my suspicion but thought it was better to listen to most in the Sandy who must have the ability to work out it was a clear offside from behind the goal.

We started so well but they quickly learnt that getting in down the sides of our defence is really quite easy at times.

How are we not losing this game.. we are dreadful.
We are lightweight in midfield losing out on most tackles and despite being a team of midgets we seem to be incapable of keeping the ball on the deck. Graham is absolutely hopeless and O'Connell looks as if he is totally pissed off with the chaos surrounding him.
All this after we score so early makes it all feel even worse... changes needed now Robbie !!

Shouldn't need the floodlights on, with Leyton Orient’s kit. Dazzling isn't the word. Makes their giants look even more immense.

How can we say 'we want to attach new fans' when we produce home performances like this time after time.

Nightmare 2 minutes by Dorsett. 1st of all miss-hits a pass that leads to them missing a free header. Then the ball rolls under his foot for a throw in. From the throw in he heads a weak clearance that their guy hammers home. In fairness a brilliant strike but we are now starting to shoot ourselves in the foot

The manager is clueless, his inability to see that 3 at the back at home doesn't work, is shocking.

Wasn't there a thread on here about cutting out gamesmanship/time wasting? How about making the keeper take the goal kick from the side of his area the ball went out rather than dawdling across to the other side? That drives me nuts.

EDIT: YEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!

2-2 in the 90th minute. Completely undeserved but who cares. Corner swung in, header saved by the keeper & Newby taps in from 6 inches ( may have gone in anyway). Goal in the first & last minute or normal time. 6 minutes of injury time

Finished 2-2. Fortuitous point but keeps the unbeaten run going. I would say the best league performance by a visiting side in the league & they will be kicking themselves. Taylor & Andrew were involved when they came on & won't have done themselves any harm. Onwards & Upwards

Orient will be wondering how we got anything out of that. We really are an awful team to watch, especially at home. Graham and Dorsett in a back three clearly ain’t working and Beesley is never going to provide enough of a goal threat. I can take a bit of a nothing season, assuming we don’t get pulled in to a relegation scrap, but it’d be nice to see a bit of entertainment and feel like we were having a go at teams. Dull.

Does anyone have Derren Brown's number? Could do with forgetting the middle 88 minutes today.

On a serious note, Orient looked like a textbook Lg2 side - big, strong, quick, frustrating, wizards of the dark arts... not brilliant technically but I'd still expect them to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season

We weren't great, but far from our worst performance season to date. We need to find a way to press and attack at home for sustained periods of time... we have flashes or brilliance but don't seem to have an 'average' gear - during a match we're either very very good or very very bad.

Not a fan of the petulance from O'Connell, O'Keeffe, Kelly, Newby today either. There is work to do from the management on the old mantra of 'fire on the pitch, ice in the mind' to keep focus when it doesn't go our way.

Match Thread: Dale vs Leyton Orient on 17:48 - Nov 13 with 2731 views442Dale

We have to go to four at the back for no other reason than to find out if we can defend better as a unit with full backs instead of wingbacks. O’Keeffe is exposed positionally playing further up the pitch, maybe he will be able to defend better from a deeper position than us constantly seeing the opposition get in down the sides of a back three that is obviously struggling. Similarly on the other flank, where as soon as Keohane pushes on the other team take advantage of the space behind.

O’Keeffe might be even more effective coming from deep as a proper right back anyway - Scott Wiseman managed it. Most seem to like Stockdale and are willing him to do well, by going to a back four now it will remove a stick some are picking up to use. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

If we can get get McNulty back, would be fine with him and OConnell at CH and then look to get an experienced head in January whilst seeing if we can get Graham/Taylor out on loan.

I imagine Mr Stockdale is feeling reasonably pleased this evening the team is now top of the bottom half and unbeaten in the last 5 league games. We are on 21 points from 16 games which is more or less on target for 60 points and our form against teams currently above us is better than our form against teams below us so there is room for improvement.
Was this season ever going to be easy? No, we got the last pick of available players, little or no pre- season and the manager is relatively inexperienced. Would he like a more experienced defender or two? Of course he would, but he hasn't so we have to do our best with what we have.
Todays left and right sides are both hugely inexperienced but they are both doing their best, what more can anyone do? Chopping and changing doesn't help anyone much so we must continue to continue.
Personally I think Taylor offers more but he has been out of football for what, 2 years? Recovering from Cancer is going to be a long haul and he has been thrown in the deep end so maybe he isnt quite ready yet and the 2 games a week conveyor belt is taking its toll. Professional football is an unforgiving environment and we are short of a couple of real leaders on the pitch to help the younger lads, our keepers are too quiet as is O'Connell ( who is probably trying too hard to be the leader by actions rather than words) but all-in-all I think we have made a decent start considering, maybe we will see a couple of new arrivals in January, and if we get there still in mid-table we might even still see a late run upwards.
This is a journey not the destination lets just be thankful for he opportunity to be still on the train.

OMG, thanks you for a bit of balance, I thought I was going mad. At times I think I supports a team of absolute no hopers, manage by a bloke dragged of the Sandy who thought he was attending a Hornets game.
You make an excellent point about Taylor’s health. I have faith in him but I also have faith in the whole team and the management.
We have secured 4 points at home with very late goals, one from a corner. From what people have been commenting recently it sounds like we are playing mirror images of ourselves. Cant’t defend corners, can’t see out a game etc.
Truth is this is league 2, and we are an average side. Some fans need to realise that or they will have a very long and disappointing season.

I keep telling my wife that women are obsessed with size but I’m getting that way myself.
Every team that’s been to the COA recently has been stuffed with players who like they’ve come down a beanstalk. It’s obviously the blueprint for winning at this level.
At times in the first half it was like the Alamo in front of the Sandy yet we survived to go in level at halftime.
Credit where credit is due for some excellent last ditch defending.
Funnily enough I was talking to the bloke next to me that Orient seemed to have calmed down in the second half but then a series of errors gifted them their second goal.
Unfortunately neither Graham or Dorsett have the skill levels required to play in this system. The former doesn’t look capable of playing longer than 60 minutes either. Shame because they’re exactly the type of big unit that I referred to above.
People used to call Jim McNulty accident prone but these two are in a class of their own when it comes to careless distribution.
Strangely enough as the game went on they proved to be surprisingly fragile from corners.
The keeper fumbled one onto the post and then came the equaliser.
Orient were noticeably stung by that and charged downfield. They obviously thought that they had the three points wrapped up.
By the way, I thought that perhaps it was significant that they didn’t employ short goalkicks all afternoon. The intention was to play in Dale’s half wherever possible and when they were winning most second balls in an outnumbered midfield it made sense.

A fair summary of this afternoon. Regarding Dorsett the lad stayed in Reading's youth setup for some time and played in an England U's team. How can a player do that but struggle in actual competive football?

Just 2 minutes? Our full backs are devoid of confidence, or ability, or both. I have never before prayed for Jim Mc to be fit. I hope Robbie sees something we don't in both of them.
