Freshen it up for the next few games. 12:13 - Sep 22 with 1943 views_Windydale

After raising their game for most of the match. A few of the players looked knackered last night for the last 30 mins of the game. It might be worth giving some of the squad's members a run-out to freshen it up.

Give Morley a break maybe and give Kelly some game time? Even though Morley has great stats and the squad and style of play contribute to helping with that.

I would like to see Liam Kelly given a full game on the pitch, taking the free kicks instead of Morley for a game or two. He is small and will get pushed around in this division, but it might be worth it for the goal threat. The potential assists and goals from free-kicks which we don't seem to be a threat with at the moment.

It's probably worth noting that Saturday followed much the same pattern, with Mansfield having the better of the last 20-30 minutes and a fair few of our players looking out on their feet by full-time.

When you think about it, a good 9 or 10 players in our squad are playing in their first or second season in the EFL, the demanding schedule isn't likely to be something that many of them are used to, so I totally agree that now is the time to freshen it up a little.

One point on Morley though, again with the Mansfield game, is that his set-pieces in the second half of that match were excellent I thought and after the goal were our best chance of getting a second, until the referee started blowing up for free-kicks against us when they were dropping close to a crowded out goalkeeper.

Tangled up in blue.

Massive game on Saturday.

We create so many chances during games that at some point we are going to stuff someone, fingers crossed that day is Saturday.

I know the 5-2-3 has been working for us but I’d quite like to see us start with four at the back on Saturday and have an additional body in midfield (Kelly).

Newby will be disappointed that he wasn’t involved last night, but he will be ready and raring to go on Saturday, as will a few others.

Yes, I agree its a young squad getting used to the rigors of first-team League 2 action.

A few players look tired I think in particular Odoh, Dorsett, Max Taylor, and Alex Newby have tended to fade last 25 mins of the game. Concentration levels affected in last 20 as the players distribution and positioning fall short. Maybe that's why we concede so many goals after we score as the players possibly take their foot off the gas.

I think Odoh definitely burns out, his runs dwindling off because of his first-half running,

Think it's pretty obvious Newby will come back in for either Cashman or Odoh. I'm not sure he'll rock the boat too much. Lynch was excellent and should keep his shirt on that performance. Dooley has been excellent but probably needs a rest. I wouldn't want to but Beesley was also looking tired at the end which isn't like him.

Could see something like this with Kelly getting a chance in one of the more forward positions. I thought O'Keefe wasn't quite at his best last night and has a better link with Newby in the side.

Lynch
O'Keefe Max O'Connell Dorsett Keohane
Newby Morley Broadbent Kelly
Beesley

Edit: just checked and there's no Tuesday game so maybe not as many changes required. Following Tuesday is the PJT and a chance to give minutes to others.

Poll: What are we more excited for?

I agree that Odoh looks to be a 45 minute player at the moment though.
Do you start him and tell him to charge around until he's knackered or use him as an impact player.
Dorsett also looked tired or injured last night (or a combination of both?) but unless Freeman is fit it means Big Jim getting a game if Dorsett is given a break.
Perhaps another thing to consider is how many of the more inexperienced players will be mentally shattered after an emotional game last night?
