From the frying pan..into the fire. Southall is as unsavoury as they come.

FFS how on earth is this cretin allowed to purchase these shares given his track record?

At least he's a very public figure by comparison - we'll need a trowel to dig up the dirt instead of a JCB.

25% sits under the 30% threshold for EFL intervention.

The key here will be to look at any links between Southall and whoever they sell the remaining 17% to. This is very, VERY worrying.

What is confirmed from this (I assume) is that the share transfers to Morton House were completed and that those who sold them received their money? I'd say their due but that's still to come in one form or another.

Would there be any point whatsoever in buying that 25% if the other 17% wasn't going to someone he had links with?

That 30% threshold needs changing and indeed certain people should be banned from owning ANY shares in ANY football clubs, Matt Southall being right at the very top of that list.

Tangled up in blue.

We're currently chatting to different press people / journos about this as we speak, they are VERY interested in the story again and are waiting for word from the EFL.

One thing is for sure - this won't be difficult to get in the public eye.

They can, of course, only sell shares they've actually bought

As of right now, there's been no transfer of shares, so do we assume that the "right to buy" agreements they've made with current major shareholders will simply be transferred?

And very importantly, where does this leave the Andrew Kelly shares. The latest we had was that Morton House had taken a legal action to prevent the sale of those shares to the Dale Trust. AK's agreement (in the first instance) was with Morton House

Now, unless that agreement included a condition that AK agree to abide by any future resale of as-yet-unsold shares to a third party of Morton House's choosing, failure to abide by the agreement could no longer be hindered by a legal challenge?

And surely to god, AK wouldn't have bound himself to such an unknown and convoluted possibility?

Also worth noting - we believe that Matt Southall may be one of the people that our illustrious former CEO (now turned football consultant) was courting for investment whilst in post.

We know he wasn't the preferred bidder (that was Halsall) and also can't have been second choice (that was seemingly Morton House). Imagine being 3rd choice behind those 2, even in the eyes of our former directors! not exactly a glowing endorsement.

If the EFL had the balls to simply ban these people from ANY involvement in football, financial or otherwise, our club(s) would be a lot safer from maggots like this.

It can't be that difficult, surely. Especially when Southall's recent history at CAFC is there for all to see.

Oh god i hope not.

I concur with the above posts the EFL need to grow a pair and ban these people from ever owning an interest in any football club..

Why would this guy show any interest in Rochdale besides the shysters who think they actually purchased their shares and then sell them..

Cant sell something you dont physically own....

In terms of the club. Am I right in thinking Morton House haven't actually registered their shares officially yet? If so how can they sell them?!

Very worrying times but 25% is not very useful for anyone so as others have said the other 17% or so are now very important. We and anyone looking to takeover the club should remember the 50.7% that support the Trust.

It's the Board who have to register shares and so far, from the many public annoucements, no share transfer forms have ever been presented.

It would not matter if they were.

The Board need EFL approval to register Morton House's 42% shareholding under the EFL rules and the EFL are currently conducting unconcluded disciplinary proceedings into the deal and why it completed WITHOUT EFL approval.

Until the EFL approve that deal, they can't approve any subsequent deal and any new owner from Morton House (Matt Southall) or otherwise would need to be accredited if they wanted to run the club or otherwise there are a minority partner.

Remember, Andrew Kilpatrick as the largest individual shareholder had 22%. That's an illiquid unquoted investment which is hard to turn back into cash, particularly with the world and the EFL watching closely.

We know that Morton House had a proxy over those untransferred shares

Do you think there could be a legally-binding clause which allowed Morton House to transfer that "agreement to buy + proxy" onto a third party?

A proxy can only last 11 months unless renewed, so there is a clock ticking. The AK shares purchase by the trust may be held up for another 6 or 7 months if there is a proxy in place, but I dont understand why Andrew Kelly cannot simply revoke the proxy as he is still the shareholder and Morton House have apparently no further interest in Rochdale AFC. The MH purchase of AKs shares has collapsed. He is isn't being paid for them, they dont want to buy them and he doesn't want to sell to them. This might explain the 25% now being discussed. Bottom will sell to anyone so there are a few more % there. Maybe Rawlinson is getting cold feet about getting further in the mire with some of these clowns. Which leaves Andrew Kilpatrick, errant son of a true Dale fan. That apple fell a long way from the tree didn't it?

There appears to be a consortium of tvvats out there, hell bent on sabotaging everything we want to do and stand for. Unleashed by arch-tvvat Bottomley - curse him and his camels!

Morton House and, maybe Southall obviously need compensating for their loss of money in purchasing these rogue shares. They need buying back - at something like a penny in the pound.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.
