Austin head butt on Grant Hall on 22:09 - Aug 18 by davman
He can say whatever the hell he wants; the evidence is there for all to see - idiotic to the extreme...
Worst part was him trying to justify it on camera to Mark Warbarton at the end. Trying to suggest that it was more of a shoulder barge. Which if you look closely it probably was but very silly.
I can see what it meant by the stop/start movement, as his head is doing the same motion previously before the second motion when he makes contact and he is trying to get away from Hall who is holding him back, which could exagerrated the movement.
But....the movement looks unnatural and over extended, the collision itself looks too much like an intentional headbutt. I think if the ref had seen it properly that would have been a red. May also depend upon what Hall says as well, if he says he felt it was accidental or intentional, that Austin stops and returns quickly and they both shake hands quickly afterwards may help.
Can't help but think retrospective red, though. However he dresses it up, there is just too much going on there to be anything less.
Never knowingly understood

He could argue he was trying to gain some momentum, jolting forward whilst being held - plus I’m not sure how much contact there was, as hall didn’t seem that bothered regarding intent, or contact. On film it looks like a clear and really nasty nut, but it didn’t play out like that. Fingers crossed

He will just say he gave it for the pushing
Well I would say unless Austin has a neck like a giraffe, he can't push and headbutt an opponent at the same time!
The point I'm making is that it's one thing for retrospective action being taken for an incident the ref hasn't seen, ie off the ball, or where he is unsighted. But he was looking at this incident and deemed it worthy of a free kick and no more.
