| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Russell Martin’s Swansea City discussions reach a conclusion on 12:58 - Aug 1 with 3514 views | Thornburyswan | Interesting read & I hope Winter has set a reasonable time window - 24/48 hours max I’d say - & has a plan B (Morris I presume) lined up. When you factor in his wider commitments - kids, wife’s roles, vegan restaurants etc - it feels like on balance staying where he is would appear the smart call but I guess that depends how ambitious he is for his career.

Trying to source the photo time, if it’s today he’s here and it’s fine. If that’s him leaving after this mornings meeting then we are waiting as per the article.

Could have been yesterday then or from the hotel this morning. Long old way to get from Bournemouth to Swansea in daylight yesterday.

Done that trip a few times & it’s a good 3.5hours plus (and that’s on a good run) so if he left on the final whistle that’s 8.30PM about 30 mins before sunset. So not yesterday evening for me.
Russell Martin’s Swansea City discussions reach a conclusion on 13:45 - Aug 1 with 3081 views | ItchySphincter | Bournemouth to Swansea is blinking long way - my guess is that's them after being dropped off by taxi from the hotel this morning. :) Can't imagine him and Williams would come all the way here for talks if they weren't planning on joining, but can't get a good feeling about this for some reason.

Some MK Dons fan on Twitter said he was actually with Liam Sweeting, head of recruitment, not his assistant Luke Williams. Maybe Scott is moving to a different role?

Russell Martin’s Swansea City discussions reach a conclusion on 14:19 - Aug 1 with 2797 views | ReslovenSwan1 | I have assessed the car park photo graph. What can be determined from it forensically?. a) Martin has a overnight wheely suitcase. This tells me he spent the night in South Wales b) His body postures is slightly hunched. I interpret this tentatively, as possibly indicating he was under the strain of still having a big decision to make. c) He was not carrying a raincoat. This perhaps suggest leaving Bournemouth in a rush without considering the prevailing weather forecast for South West Wales. This may have also been related to getting away from some over emotional fans. d) Martin was not wearing anything from the club shop. (Pulis style). This may indicate a clear schism from the MK Dons. Effectively offering a "blank canvas" in contractual talks. e) As noted elsewhere his assistants were not with him suggesting that in house staff at Swansea such as Alan Tate will be kept on. f) He may have had a nice chat with Korey Smith who he must know and seem alike a very nice bloke. A warm smile and reassuring words works wonders. You may be able to make out Korey in the background in the blue sports car using special photo software. This needs to be confirmed. Kindly for your consideration. [Post edited 1 Aug 2021 14:27]

Nice try Ponty Jack, you've forgotten to add Ryan Bennett and Kyle Naughton as part of the welcoming committee, after all weren't they in the same PL team in season 2011/12
Russell Martin’s Swansea City discussions reach a conclusion on 14:36 - Aug 1 with 2656 views | Badlands | After this circus he's going to have to be phenomenal. While acknowledging it is a massive decision for him and his family the way it is being played out is doing him no favours. I know nothing about him other than the stats and he has brought in 32 players in 2 seasons!

You are even more forensic than me. Bravo. I had a limited research budget! It bound to help unless Martin and Bennett had a massive drunken bust up at the Epsom Derby races back in the day. Having said that Martin might have been teetotal. So little time for research these days. Looks like Martin to Swansea and Jody Morris to MKD. Everyone happy. [Post edited 1 Aug 2021 14:47]

It is not a circus. This is what happened from what i have read. a) Cooper was not happy about the budget cut and wanted to leave. b) Winter told him he was under contract and he could go if someone came in for him and paid the compensation. c) Crystal Palace and Fulham showed interest but went elsewhere. Palace the extremely risky Viera appointment. Cooper might have been a better Hodgson replacement. Palace were able to get Guehi and Gallagher without Cooper in the frame. d) Cooper still wanted to leave despite not having a job but agreed to take preseason for two weeks. e) Swansea found Eustace and Cooper walked. f) Eustace did a late U turn. with 3 weeks to the first game. g) Winter took 2 weeks to secure Martin with 1 week to the first game. h) Swansea have players capable of playing a passing game as they have come through underage groups and also under Cooper. i) The Championship is a marathon not a sprint. The right coach will rapidly make up for a slow start. k) There is a over a month left of the transfer window and Martin will have his targets and presumably agreed a budget to get them. The US owners are not fools. I believe they have a long term strategy of developing a clutch of up to 10, 19-22 year olds all needing game time. To do well these player must develop and improve. The likes of Whttaker, Piroe, Benda, Brandon Cooper, Latibeaudiree and Cullen. Some will some will not. Top 6 will be quite an achievement without expensive luxury loans players.

He’s a bloody football manager for gods sake, all this crap about his vegan restaurant in Brighton is it some kind of joke. 110% commitment required or stay at franchise FC. We are Swansea city not some non league outfit.
Russell Martin’s Swansea City discussions reach a conclusion on 15:53 - Aug 1 with 2160 views | nantywatcher | I've always believed in life, and especially in business, that there is a natural flow about how successful outcomes are achieved. The Russell Martin scenario looks massively forced and not much makes sense to me.. A professional football manager's life is 24/7 - with a young family he has a choice of leaving them at home or uprooting them all to move hundreds of miles away. I cannot see this one playing out, Martin must realise he is on all Championship club's radar now. I hope Morris has been kept 100% informed all the way through this rigmarole.

I agree with all that. And I agree it is close to what happens in many appointments but it has been played out in public and that is why it has become a circus ... an event for public consumption.

A Circus? Aren't most managerial appointments played out in the public gaze, this one has been rather short in my opinion
