Lund leaves Dale. on 12:05 - Jun 26 with 6301 views | dawlishdale | Will be a hard one to replace, but his injury record is what probably stopped us offering terms nearer to his demands. If he had managed another 6 games (in midfield...not upfront BBM) we would probably have stayed up. Good luck Matty.

He knows as well as anyone that football is a results business, so we'll make our own judgements in managers, thanks. But aye, good luck, you'll remain one of my favourite (now ex-) players [Post edited 26 Jun 2021 12:52]

That's the way I see it about his injury record. It's a shame really, as he might just about have the ability to play regularly at Championship level otherwise.

Barrow was an idiot, but we did win 15 home games under him in 1997/98.

Certainly don’t need a player advising us that all will be well as we’re perfectly capable of evaluating what we see. Football people. Ace.

I agree. Last season Lundy played on 20 February, after which he made 4 more appearances (no goals) in the 17 remaining games. A two-year contract, which I assume he wanted, would have been too big a risk for a cash-strapped club, but rejecting Dale's offer suggests he has something lined up (Salford, perhaps, or Fleetwood). Interesting he mentions BBM, but not who, 8 years ago this month, signed him.

I thought Salford or Bolton.

Maybe he's got a good offer elsewhere and it was simply a case of us not being able to offer anything close.

Could be interesting to see were he ends up going and the reason he has decided his future is elsewhere could be any of the ones being suggested. Wish the lad all the best ,he has the served us well in his two stints here, but in my view he has certainly not been a huge success anywhere else he has played so will be keeping an eye out on that one.

lund is ideal for bigger squad with more money, where a goal every 2.5 games and a decent performance, albeit for say 25 games a season, is a great return. I thought Fleetwood or more likely Salford almost immediately he turned us down. At 3k a week (sure he will have asked for more) he would Be costing us around £6500 per game based on last year, a luxury we can’t afford. Also heard a few rumours his knee is held together with blue tac and he could be 1 tackle away from career over, we just can’t risk it!

If his knee is that bad why offer him a new contract! Should have just let him go, makes no difference now though as he will be somebody elses problem if he gets a new club.....
