One for the BEER enthusiasts on here? on 14:09 - Jan 28 with 4867 views | D_Alien | Apart from the Spitfire Gold @ 99p, i wouldn't say those other 'offers' are much different from usual supermarket prices What makes me weep (almost literally) is the thought of 40,000L of ale - from just one brewery - being washed down the drains. Can't for the life of me see why it couldn't have been sold at trade prices to people willing to turn up (during periods when it was possible to do so) with canisters or whatever [Post edited 28 Jan 2021 14:10]

Agree with that. Proper job is my go to bottled beer at 5.5% and £1.49/500ml. So there's one beer on that list from a price point of view that might be attractive. Not sure when this beer was brewed/bottled either? Assume it was made pre-lockdown. It's either been stood around for a long time or been bottled for a while and only just being distributed. I also don't know why it would be deemed safe to buy a coffee, but not get a carrykeg or two or even a polypin filled up from a brewery if lockdown is really getting to you? PS I in in no way condone drinking to excess to attempt to solve any of the problems caused by lockdown .......... just in case Edit: I will deffo buy some of that Spitfire if it's not sold out. Britain's oldest surviving brewery is worth SUPporting [Post edited 28 Jan 2021 14:55]

Shepherd Neame (along with Adnam's in Suffolk) are great traditional breweries, and the former the shortest of hops for the hops Talking of support, it's still best to sup ale before iFollowing the Dale! Edit for purists: yes, it's Dale, not 'the Dale' but it's 'the Dale' in the old song! [Post edited 28 Jan 2021 15:08]

🤣 was just reminiscing Judd when we used to have places called pubs... as much as they had draconian rules such as no phones, music or TV’s, they were a social place to wander to and sip some refreshing ales on a nice summers day

That wild idea you've got will never catch on, anything to do with socialising should be banned.... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

One for the BEER enthusiasts on here? on 23:02 - Jan 29 with 4187 views | mikehunt | Has anybody tried Vocation Brewery beers? Based in Crag Vale with a bar in Hebden Bridge. Bit pricey but a new level in the quality of beer. I like hoppy, citrus types and theirs are awesome. But they do quirky stuff like dark coffee stouts at 12 proof. They have a great range and I guarantee you won’t have tasted anything like them (If you have please let me know) They do home deliveries if you fancy giving them a try.

I've just visited their site and it looks like they do some interesting ales but it's a pity that they don't do a mixed lot of 12 bottles for those who haven't tried them before but I do fancy trying the 12% coffee tbh

One for the BEER enthusiasts on here? on 19:30 - Jan 30 with 3987 views | TipperaryDale | Cant speak highly enough of Vocation, was planning to go to their bar in Hebden this last summer, but obviously never got to go. Buxton Brewery are the daddy for me though, if you're ever in the location a trip to their tap house is a definite. Went to Aldi and looked what they had, nothing special really and at the prices they usually sell for. Lidl do a good 'Craft Beer Week' every now and then, worth looking out for, especially the Scottish breweries that always seem to be on it.
One for the BEER enthusiasts on here? on 20:16 - Jan 30 with 3962 views | EllDale | Is this the same brewery as Little Valley in Cragg Vale? If so I’m partial to a brew of theirs called Tod’s Blonde. Nice 5% bottle and well worth a try.

They're on the same site, but two separate operations Well worth a visit (when circumstances allow) on a sunny day, great place to brew ale

I can't see them on their site but then again these are strange times I spotted Proper Job (for some reason I thought that it was called Hand Job ) whilst being dragged around shopping earlier and picked up some random others, thoughts? Banana Bread Ghost Ship Shipyard IPA Estrella Damm Greene King IPA Reserve I've already splashed out on a mixed case of beer from Frome Brewery (being delivered)

One for the BEER enthusiasts on here? on 13:58 - Jan 31 with 3789 views | TipperaryDale | Their all okay except the Green King one, personally I find their beers are all shite, like Robinsons (honourable exception would be Old Tom). If you ever see Guinness Foreign Extra (about 7%), it's worth getting some, especially the Nigerian-made one. Another supermarket beer I like is Titanic Plum Porter, you can get it in Morrisons I believe

I shall keep an eye out for the Guinness as I like a drop of the dark stuff Plum Porter is a top notch beer and as you say can be bought at Morrisons 4 for £6 but there's a pub that overlooks the harbour in Whitby that does it hand pumped and Is delicious,I think that I paid about £4 summat for a pint but well worth it

One for the BEER enthusiasts on here? on 14:56 - Jan 31 with 3749 views | TipperaryDale | Would that be the Duke of York by any chance? Any of Titanic's ales are good to be honest. Another couple of good breweries if you ever see them is Red Willow in Macc (bit pricey but good beer) and Marble Brewery in Manchester. Unlikely to be in supermarkets, but worth buying online if you fancy taking a punt on a mixed case.

Yeah that's it,it wouldn't come to me but that's the one, sitting on the balcony overlooking the harbour with a cool pint of hand pumped Plum Porter is worth the visit alone I will have a look at Marble Brewery as I prefer to buy mixed boxes of beers that I've never heard of as there's bound to be something good in there to sample

If you're ever in Manchester chalky, the Marble Arch pub is a short walk from the centre, heading back towards Rochdale It's one of my favourite pubs in the region, and of course the ales are on top note. They also do some simple but decent grub (that's food, we don't eat insects just yet) including a mixed cheese board to die for https://marblebeers.com/our-pubs/the-marble-arch-inn/ [Post edited 31 Jan 2021 15:51]

When Notts are back in the league and playing Dale again I may well give it a try as I usually spend a full day out on away trips.... The cheese board I will leave though as cheese is the one food that makes me boff up (literally), honestly I would sooner order the tripe [Post edited 31 Jan 2021 15:54]
