Debenhams gone into liquidation 09:26 - Dec 1 with 1528 views | raynor94 | That will be the finish of Swansea town centre. Can't think of anyone who will want to take on the Quadrant store

Dreadful for Swansea and many smaller cities and towns. As John Lewis are closing stores, expansion of a full store unlikely.. perhaps a ‘At Home’ which carries electricals ,furniture and cookware. But these are usually out of town
Debenhams gone into liquidation on 10:27 - Dec 1 with 1473 views | Scotia | That's three large stores gone from the city centre in two days. It's going to be a difficult way back for the city centre now. Let's hope this arena can kick start some sort of revival.
Debenhams gone into liquidation on 10:30 - Dec 1 with 1470 views | Dr_Winston | Town centre retail was dying on it's arse long before Covid. Time for a new approach rather than looking for more big stores who will probably end up in the same boat in 5-10 years. We need something that offers the same employment opportunities (or as close as) but won't be as open to decimation by eCommerce as retail currently is. [Post edited 1 Dec 2020 11:53]

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Perfectly poised for John Lewis and Waitrose on the ground floor. Serendipitous with the massive redevelopment and gateway to the Bay. Mumbles is taking over by stealth.

Massive Deb is Liverpool in prime site .This is catastrophic news for any town with a Deb store. Frankly, though, always thought the store was rather shambolic. John Lewis-over to you. These are sad days ,folks

Sadly not a chance Rich. John Lewis is closing eight stores including in the south and midlands and its strategy is to develop online (already much better than M & S or Debenhams) and delivery. Not sure I can see that Liverpool store being occupied by a big retailer either. John Lewis now the only Department Store in Liverpool. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just a fundamental change in how we buy things. Cities have to be a destination to visit with leisure opportunities as much as the retailers. No way on earth I would go for a days shopping even before covid. Argos has done well from me this Christmas. Click and collect from Sainsbury's in Neston is very easy!

It's our anniversary on 22nd Dec. 41 yr now and I was about to book two days in the Titanic for shopping and a little levity but bottled it or rather Wifey has. It is going to be a while before we go anywhere but by that time I will have mastered this bluddy Banjo. Yep,thrill ha gone

You only have to go to MacArthur Glen to see how shopping has changed. 1000's of people there every weekend.

Yep-same here in Cheshire Oaks (another McArthur Glen) but about three times the size of Bridgend. Had to build a second Multi Storey. Even more chaotic as has other shopping/leisure park around the back in the Coliseum. Will be gridlock there this weekend and until early January.
Debenhams gone into liquidation on 12:55 - Dec 1 with 1381 views | pikeypaul | Can't believe it lasted so long, like previously said there has been a massive switch in the way we do our retail shopping. It's sad for the ones who lose their jobs but the world is going online and nothing will stop that. I ordered a shirt at about 1030 pm last night from Amazon £15 cheaper than anywhere else I could find it, just after Mrs pikey was serving my breakfast this morning it arrived at my doorstep, that type of service is not for some who like to walk the shops but I'll take it every day of the week thank you. Just noticed Martin"sell out" Morgan's mate who bought parc tawe has now started charging for parking down there for over 2 hours, can't see that helping the shops footfall, but the guy is only worth about £100 million so needs a few Bob extra to pay for Christmas. Debenhams gone into liquidation on 12:57 - Dec 1 with 1378 views | Joe_bradshaw | It's interesting that whilst high street retailers are desperately trying to renegotiate leases or seek payment holidays the value of large warehousing in semi rural locations with access to motorways is rocketing as is suitable land.

I live at the bottom end of the Wirral which is quite rural but has an industrial estate-we already have an Aldi distribution centre-smack off the A540 and a ten minute run onto the motorway network. We now have a local Hermes centre in disused unit-heaving with couriers in their cars each morning. That's only servicing the immediate area-you can see where its going. The days of the high street chain are over.

Debenhams gone into liquidation on 18:17 - Dec 1 with 1259 views | angryjack | I honestly think this is what the government want, they want everything to close slowly so everything from food shopping to clothe shopping to anything done on line NO cash its their way of dwindling out cash so they can control and watch everyone even now wanting to make everyone if you want to go to an event i.e theatre football pub anywhere you can't get in unless you got papers to prove you have had the vaccine, show uz ze papers,Nazi Germany,,what's in these vaccines,,no cash will stop working on the side no drug dealers no money laundering that's way it is heading,,that's why this virus is here to control us...
Debenhams gone into liquidation on 20:04 - Dec 1 with 1216 views | onehunglow | I honestly think mankind ,especially in this island,is destroying himself and the planet. We have world leaders denying climate change,we have people unwilling to eshew pubs and restaurants even though millions have died from an awful virus that is very painful. I think we are seeing the worst of mankind and how selfish we are;truly most don't give a feck and all the concern over business is a facade. Today we heard a Tory chairman opine it''s about personal freedom-FOOK ALL TO DO WITH DEATH THEN..Truly a filthy clown of a man.
