One to make me question my love of boxing, but his fights with Kevin Finnegan were epic.

Nearly crashed into him during a driving lesson in Crawley [where Alan was from] back in the 70's. I probably wouldn't be here now if I had hit him!!

Brings back happy memories of watching Wednesday nights Sportsnight programme with gentleman Harry Carpenter singing Alan's praises. A Sussex sporting hero. RIP

There aint half been some clever bastards.

Liked Minter, was in the arena the night he took a beating, did not throw anyhing, stunned by the display of Hagler realizing that 'our boy' had walked into a boxing lengend. Later met Marvin at a back yard drink / bbq in Rockland Massachusetts, top bloke.
RIP Alan Minter.

I met Alan in the mid-90s, really lovely bloke. Great fighter in his day who just met in Hagler, something approaching a Terminator machine.

RIP Boom Boom

He fought Hamsho in Las Vegas and it was the first time I heard the phrase "He would have had to knock him out to get a draw"
Minter out boxed him in every round and thought he had won, as we all did.
