Lidl have a 'craft ale' festival on for anyone interested? Had a Plunged orange pale ale @ 6% last night - very average and over priced. Got stronger Luminous Nights and Odin's Beard to look forward to. Lots of pale ales IPAs and DIPAs. |  |

I never venture into Lidl or Aldi as I'm pretty much a creature of habit and just use the supermarket down the road,are they usually any good for craft ales? | |

Lidl have festivals (my local now) not sure about Aldi - think they do too. Its a good chance to try new beers but the moniker 'craft' is just an excuse to charge more in my view. All the craft beers are in cans and fairly strong - current focus is lighter (coloured) beers as it's summer ..... in theory | |

I've had the luminous nights. Top drawer. The Loch Lomond brewery stuff is generally excellent. I had some previously, (pale ale) £1.79 a can and thought it was fabulous. So, I thought I'd order it by the case direct from the brewery and save a few bob. Except it was £2.39 a tin from them !!
Back to Lidl, where I bought all 24 cans on the shelf, it was so good. Some of the stuff they sell during their Craft Ales week is excellent. Not to be missed. |  |

Lidl are now selling a 500ml bottle 5% 'Joker' IPA from Williams Bros of Alloa. £ 1-59/bottle. Most enjoyable. [Post edited 11 Aug 2021 15:04]
