Who is he referring to? Richard Dunne? Mattieu Smith? Makes me respect those honest pro's all the more. Good geezers.

Inside the Dressing Room on 17:00 - Apr 1 with 3457 views | BklynRanger | David Wheeler maybe? He comes across as quite normal and went to uuuuniversity.
Inside the Dressing Room on 17:11 - Apr 1 with 3424 views | slmrstid | David Wheeler was my initial thought, but Connor Washington or Matt Smith (the larger) could be correct shouts as well as they were both "smarter lads" lets say. But they were both with the club a lot longer than Wheeler, so perhaps Wheeler is the likeliest there...
Inside the Dressing Room on 17:20 - Apr 1 with 3401 views | aston_hoop | Nedum himself is an academically smart lad I believe, my first thought was Wheeler too though. I also imagine his politics didn't necessarily go down to well, I'm sure I read in interviews with him he got a lot of stick for that in dressing rooms

Wasn't Nedums mum insistent that he kept up the studies in order to have something to fall back on so he had some good A-levels or something. Wheeler sounds likely, I just thought Washington because I remembered that he had a job before football which I thought made him likely to come across as normal. He was also very mock-able.
Inside the Dressing Room on 17:29 - Apr 1 with 3374 views | Hunterhoop | Surely someone that spent time in the dressing room not out on loan, so unlikely Wheeler. Matt Smith is the obvious one, but the way the article sets the quote up you’d think it was from our time in the Prem, which would discount him and Washington (not sure he went to uni anyway).
Inside the Dressing Room on 17:35 - Apr 1 with 3343 views | PhilmyRs | Esteban Granero would be my guess. From what I remember, people spoke about him as low key, normal type etc. Pitty he was generally rubbish for us but always felt there was a decent player in there. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Now playing lower league football here in Spain and running an Artificial Intelligence company trying to fight Coronavirus. Really.

Am I right in thinking that Granero & Faurlin were recently at the same lower league club, maybe Marbella???

Yep both at Marbella, not a terrible area of the world to wind down. Granero did an interview recently actually talking about how he doesnt need the money of the move to Qatar or something like that as he prefers a cheap and simple life. It all fits in

He say's he thinks he went to university. Turns out (I didn't know this until I just googled it) that Conor Washington spent 1 year at Nottingham Trent University on a educational course which was linked to football somehow. I'd have thought Ned would have been sure that Matt had been to uni as I think it's quite well known. Could be either of them but like you say sounds like it might have been premier league years. Barton? I really want to know who it is though, so I hope someone here know's who he's referring to.

I think that's a good shout; definitely think Ned is talking about the Premiership years, he is making a point about the overpaid weirdness of that, and there were fewer players like that about in the Wheeler/Matt Smith days. Rob Green was a terrible keeper for us but in interviews comes over as a decent thoughtful bloke. I remember a good interview about the press after he dropped that clanger vs USA - apparently the press were camped outside his parents' door before dawn, as if they would have anything useful to say about it.

Bit harsh on Green that. One or two big errors (won't forgive him for the ridiculous kick handing Chelsea a totally undeserved win at HQ with time almost up) for sure but he was largely pretty good as I recall and was excellent in the playoff final. Also broke the club record for consecutive clean sheets.

Agree. Greeno tends to get mostly pelters on here; but my memory if him was a largely decent keeper, let down by erratic (mostly crap) kicking. He definitely won us way more points than he lost us, that's for sure. Too easy a scapegoat. There were far bigger ar5eh0les that deserve pelters than him.
