Is this a replacement to Golden Gamble?

Sounds like the prize might not always be as good as GG where a decent crowd at a match, meant that there was a guaranteed winner of £500 plus!

Comments guys and gals?

PS (Laters).......Thanks SandyDrum for the courtesy of amending your post......manners on the forum!

Sorry YD, we literally posted our threads at the same time!

I will add mine as comment to your thread and delete mine:

Let's say 2000 tickets are sold for Golden Gamble - you've got a 1 in 2000 chance of winning a guaranteed £3/400 based on the past few years prizes.

On this new draw, you've got a 1 in 2000 chance of winning a guaranteed £100, or a 1 in 20,000 chance of winning a grand.

Just in league games let's say law of averages (1 in 10) the bonus ball is drawn and won twice in the season, the club will have to pay out £4300 in winnings.

If you compare that to last season where I think the prizes were an average £350 x 23 = £ 8050 - the club are set to save /make around £3500 here.

Hopefully that money will all go back into the academy as it is supposed to do, and fingers crossed someone from this messageboard gets lucky and wins the grand!

Of course this is all theoretical and by some mathematical freak show, the grand might be won every game!

Wish I'd chosen a different username...

4 or 5 of us usually buy a ticket with the intention of splitting the winnings (won once about 10 years ago!) The odds of winning the grand are ridiculous and £100 not worth splitting, so I imagine our pounds will be spent elsewhere. The match worn shirt prize is a good idea though.

Seems the club (or the lotteries department) don't want to give out top prizes, seeing as though the Dale Lotto jackpot hasn't been won since February.

Can’t see the wool for the fleece in this one!!!!

£100 quid for a 2000 to 1 shot is lousy of. Have read this correctly.

If they want to change it just go back to the time of the first goal scored like they did back in the 80’s, that was great. Say 2 quid a ticket and you win £90 quid. Your also not then limiting the number of winners (could be 7 or 8 winners easily, all winning).

Could maybe sell season passes at 40 quid that covers every home league game and also have online ability to buy. Just an idea like.

Every Team Needs A John Ryan - The Winger Who's a Ringer!!!!!

That’s not the way I read it?

1 x £100 winner
10-1 chance of boosting to a £1,000 > a “bonus ball” to match the last number on your winning one?

Anyway up it’s gone worse like the catering... won the GG 1st or 2nd game season before last & got over £500 which paid for our season tickets...

Something else to save money on matchdays, programmes will be £10 next...

Poll: Prediction League ... Continue or have a World Cup Break?

They won't.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

The programme is the best value for money in the whole matchday experience if you ask me.

If 2000 tickets are sold.

2000/1 chance of your ticket being drawn out, followed by 10/1 of the last digit of your ticket matching the bonus ball.

2000/1 x 10/1 = 20,000/1 chance of winning a grand.

****MATHS PEDANT****

It's actually 1/2,000 (one successful outcome out of 2000 possible outcomes) or 1,999-1 (1,999 losing tickets to one winning ticket).

So 1/20,000.

So sort of the same thing!

You're welcome.

Club will pay out £190 per week on average, far less than previous if ticket sales stay the same.

Pies £3.50 x 23 = £80.50
Tickets £2 x 23 = £46

Fagin_Lama is saving loads this season.

Does n't the pie money go into the Catering Companies sky-rocket though, whereas the Grab a Granny money goes to the Academy?

I've always thought that the Golden Gamble ticket was a donation to the Club and having a very very slim chance of winning anything.......merely a feelgood factor?

There is a better idea, put the programmes up £1 & put the Number on the back for the half time draw!!!!

Ps.. don’t agree with the odds, it’s not an accumulator 😀

Edit. Probably won’t be able to sell them to U18”s due to gambling laws before someone corrects me, but was a good idea whilst it lasted

I was going to include a very similar comment Art, but thought it might be construed as a bit sexist on here........you are right, a chat with Joanne.....part of the match day experience.

The lady who flits round the Ratcliffe Bar selling GG tickets is a very good salesperson too.

Hope these lasses are utilised on Grabba.

Nothing remotely sexist in saying/posting that you enjoy meeting someone, or that you fancy someone

It's only those with views that try to demean an entire sex (women/girls, or men for that matter) that need challenging, and they will be

It wasn't because you would then be forcing someone to gamble when they may not want to.

Do they think we're a bit thick? £100 guarenteed sounds like someone's taking the mick, when we all know it's been a guaranteed few hundred for years and years.
