Do you get the feeling it was everyman for himself and the pilot just made a break for it? There was a fella involved with the search on behalf of Sala's family who reckoned the plane landed flat on the sea, which would give at least a very short time to evacuate it before it sank. It's a terrible situation but at least the family have his body. It would have been even worse without finding him at all. And with all the macabre "give us our money" stuff starting already this has got to be one of the most ignominious chapters in the history of the game. Dreadful.

It's unreasonable to expect Nantes to right off the debt. Let's hope that it all goes along with as much dignity and respect as possible. The press getting involved and stirring things up will only add to the misery of the families. But of course to expect decency from the media is expecting a lot.

Plane was “largely intact”. I don’t think it’s sinister that the pilot got out and the passenger didn’t.
Sala’s Body Recovered on 09:42 - Feb 8 with 3838 views | Professor | All very sad, but as said at least there is now closure for Sala's family. I guess they may have found the pilot if weather conditions had not prevented further search activity. Let's hope this family get closure too.
Sala’s Body Recovered on 09:44 - Feb 8 with 3825 views | LeonWasGod | At least one family has had some closure. Let hope the other one can too. I still can't understand why anyone would think that flight was a sensible one. I bet he didn't have the first clue of the risks. (based on what pilots were saying on that forum linked on here). Yes, to your first question. That's how it looks. A captain should be last off or go down with his ship.

If he did jump ship so to speak, and drowned, could be months even years before the body is found.

Except that the 'captain' did go down with his ship. How about a pilot's body being thrown out of a wrecked plane as it crashed into the sea with enough force to end up 200 feet underwater. Defaming the dead.

Can you explain how it would be possible to "jump ship"? By the way, it was a plane. Serious question. Please give me any sequence of events where your question/comment would make any actual sense because I can't think of one - can you? [Post edited 8 Feb 2019 21:31]
