REGAN POOLE [CB]
ETHAN HAMILTON [CM]

Poll: Which position do we need to sign a new player in first ?

Fairly sure that when Man U released Olly and we signed him Regan Poole was praising him & wishing him well on twitter. They probably came through various youth teams together as did Ethan. So 3 players who knows each others game can only benefit us (if we sign the pair of them)

Just hope Hamilton does not get wasted at left back, he is a box to box midfielder who can score a few, we need that cm position filled more.
If Poole comes in I think he is a centre back who will end up playing cm knowing keith hill :[

Wonder if Regan & MJ were in the Wales youth set up together. would be bizarre if they end up as centre back pairing here.

If these rumoured signings are true it can only add weight to the rumour the club is skint and the new board aren't willing to put anything towards recruitment of the players we genuinely require, so are opting for the cheap option on players.

The last week or so would seem to prove the rumoured cut to the playing budget was true and the money saved will not be invested back into the squad in the shape of the experienced type of players we require. It's looking like we will only be getting cheap unproven youth players in this month and crap goalkeepers of course.
Relying on inexperienced youth to get us out of a relegation battle is highly risky.for our league 1 status and also financially going forward as there would be a big drop in income if we end up back in league 2.

For me it is beginning to look like this new board are already financially preparing for life in League 2, and their comments that Hill was totally on board with their plan makes me think Hilly is just turning up for work and operating with his hands tied regarding recruitment.

I'm already expecting a hike in season ticket prices for next season and on current form that could well be for a League 2 season ticket.

I would love to be able to get to the forum next week but unfortunately I can't due to work commitments. I really hope the board are seriously questioned at the forum about the current playing budget and their plans for next seasons as well as the general state of the finances at the club, although I'd expect any such questions to batted away with the private/confidential matters response if asked.

For me all the recent changes in the boardroom and numerous players departing leave me thinking the new board are only interested in cutting everything back and are not interested in putting anything into the club.

I hope I'm proven wrong but have my doubts.

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

If it turns out this is the route the manager is taking, it can be assumed that other previously successful avenues of recruitment are rapidly closing, i.e. seasoned professionals who know what it takes to win games at our level

There's certainly no point in signing them (youth) to sit on the sidelines, as recent experience shows

Either that or KH is just going down the opposite route of the Alby/Perkins signings in the Summer. Mind you, January is a notoriously difficult time to recruit so it may just be that no-one of that ilk is currently available and we are looking to do our business as early as possible

Loan signings won’t keep you up. Look no further then OAFC for confirmation of that.

Anybody know what the difference in mo eys from league 1 to league 2 is!

As surely its worth getting a couple of experienced players in on loan and push to
Stay in the division rather than get the unknown in....

But then like it as been mentioned before that the new board may have resided in dropping into league 2...

Poor stance by the club then with 4mths to go....

So last night we had folks praising city’s under 23’s, and saying they wouldn’t mind signing some. Here is a rumour we maybe signing a highly rated utd one, but they won’t fit the bill and we are doomed ! Why don’t we wait and see if the story is true, and to see them play, before rushing to judgement . I still want to see a few experienced pros come in. I think this shows that Hill ain’t going.

Loads of teams have been promoted with loan players. Look at Barnsley last time they won promotion to the Championship - they had loads.
Accrington Stanley last season too.
It works both ways but a bad loan is always a bad loan.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

I've seen Ethan Hamilton play for the Under 23's a few times and I've always liked the look of him. He has shown a consistent improvement in his play over the last couple of years and has a decent pass, good physically and able to put a tackle in and not a bad shot on him either. Left footed and has played some very good games at LM although he is more of a CM. At times looked the only player who should hold his head high after some abysmal performances from the u23s.

Regan Poole is another very good youngster who was being touted as a future Manchester United centre back when he first came onto the scene. He's been a bit unlucky though, in the last few years there's plenty of other centre backs that have came into the United youth setup that are rated more highly then him so he's been pushed down the pecking order. He impressed in his loan spell at a struggling Northampton team last season where he was played more as a defensive midfielder rather then a centre back. I thought some championship teams would be in for him after his performances last season so I think this would be a great loan signing if true

I seem to remember Hereford doing well with loans in 2007/2008, and fans of the team who finished 5th bemoaning the fact.

Your point about signing experienced pros has been made by many, which is why some of us are questioning the signing of inexperienced youngsters

No-one is doubting their talent, but they've been playing with other talented youngsters and coming into a side playing with confidence and flair can add a cutting edge. It's telling that all those sides where this has worked have been looking for promotion. No-one has referenced a side struggling like we're doing having a successful experience with this type of loan signing (if it happens), and there are good reasons for this; it's not just being negative

I asked a week or so ago who our last successful loan from a club in a higher division had been, and Jack O'Connell was mentioned. He played for us during the period when we were competing for the playoffs. If we get some experienced players on board, the youngsters may well find themselves sat on the bench or doing a Dobre. I'd rather we used our wage bill more prudently

I agree, it’s not the time for youth, however, lads that already have successful loan spells under their belt, and have been training with utd’s first team are probably going to be ok. As I said, let’s see it the story is true first.

Ethan Hamilton is well rated at united. I see this as a positive signing if true. Theres still room for experience to come in. J dont see this as the end of our business..
