So you are separating yourselves from the the people that drink Beaujolais in the Wind St area, but are still trying to include yourselves in the whole sad Beaujolais experience. That is somehow even sadder..

Would not touch the slop that is Beaujolais Noveau. A villages or better a Beaujolais Cru (I like Morgon and Brouilly) that has a little time in the bottle is a great summer wine. Gamay is an underrated grape as it does not make powerful wines that score well with Parker.

It's good for the local economy and large numbers enjoy the day out.

Here? Just an excuse for Chavs to get pissed.

In France it's a bit different though.

Are you sure? I thought it was an idea the southern Burgundians came up with to get rid of Ordinary Beaujolais to stupid brits at inflated prices rather than being sold as a 'jug' wine in bistros.

As I said, I like good Beaujolais, but this is almost a raw, young wine. That said in the Loire a lot of locals will drink the early fermented reds from Cabernet Franc before bottling-more at beer strength then.

No I'm not sure at all. I thought it was always a cheap piss up end of the harvest in France and then grew into a bit of a thing over there before being exported.

I think there is a post harvest knees up, but can’t see wine that has only been in the bottle for about six weeks being consumed. Odd the tradition remains in Swansea as does our most places
