LGBT Corner Flags?! on 12:56 - Nov 28 with 1969 views | robith | It was part of the annual rainbow laces campaign which ran over the weekend. I've been sceptical about it in the past but a friend of mine has been working with stonewall consulting on it this year, and it's really actually starting to have an effect in LGBT+ engagement and involvement with sport so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

LGBT Corner Flags?! on 12:31 - Nov 28 by Ashdown_Ranger | It's not politics - it's about community and social inclusion. It's taken over 40 years to improve racism in the game (still some way to go). Good to see other issues starting to be being addressed in the same way. |
I suppose a lot depends on how you define 'politics'. I think it was Plato who defined it as the question 'how should men live?'. To others it means deciding which Old Etonian should become Prime Minister.

You see, it's gags like that one that are exhibit a when people ask for proof of homophobia in football. I know (I hope) you didn't mean in that way. But that's the effect of it. And that's why things like the rainbow flags make a difference - just to make people stop and think about whether it's really OK to make a joke that depends on calling gay people "fags".

LGBT Corner Flags?! on 02:38 - Nov 28 by timcocking | Not in my name. It's a fcuking football match. Football teams should not be allowed to deal in politics. Especially with total bullsh!t like this. |
Why would it bother you that as a one-off, the FA is promoting inclusivity to a group that has historically been marginalized by the footballing community (as well as the broader community for that matter)? Not sure how this is political | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I went and watched Stonewall FC play on Saturday. Their corner flags were red and black . The players did wear multi coloured laces though. They lost 4-0 in the London FA Senior Trophy.

I used to play cricket against Grace's CC back in the day - they used to openly swoon over our most threatening quickie, rendering him completely ineffectual. When they were fielding the captain's rallying cry from mid-off was "Keep a tight ring Grace's". We played a homeless team who generally beat us if their best bat managed to beg the match fee in time to open for them. Glenn Ponder of Debonair bowled a mean leg break. It's all good.
