Every club has its idiots, its sad that I've been going to games since 79 and hooliganism has always been around and its become kind of accepted, you would have thought that the 'fad' would have fizzled out by now
What you have to think of though is that there's an average of around 3000 people attending every Dale match. You don't hear anything all season, then one idiot makes it in to the newspapers out of all those people. People who spend their Saturday sitting watching Sky Sports instead of supporting their local team see that in the paper and assume that we are all like that and it gives them a reason not to go and watch Dale because they expect violence.
What we need is local newspapers that back and support us and try to promote our games and write about the good news. Not ones that try to imply that there is violence at what is very much a family club.
