If PC plays Ki ahead of Carroll I will be very disappointed in his tactics, Ki does not have the work ethic, the dead ball skills or the defensive qualities of Tom, even if Tom is a bit light weight he is still prepared to tackle.

I would guess Carroll would normally start ahead of Ki. I get that he and Clucas are both left sided, but Clement puts a lot of weight on work ethic and discipline, both of which Tom has, as well as being neat and tidy and able to pick a pass.
