If true, it is sheer stupidity, £45M is enough and would give us the time to spend (some of it) it wisely before the season starts.
If they back off they will then have a very disgruntled Sigi to contend with for the rest of the season.

If he wants to go he could always chip in with £5M, not unheard of for players to buy their way out. Everybody happy, move on and not so much stick from the fans.

Or it could be Siggy is quite happy where he is and the club will only sell if they get the valuation they feel he is worth, remember prices have rocketed since all this tv money came in at the end of last season

I'm sure if he was happy and didn't want out he would have gone to the US and not pulled out at the last minute.

I'm sure that if this all falls through, he will get his head down and give 100%. Not going to America aside, it's not in his nature to be disruptive.

Let's not kid ourselves he wants to be here though.

This needs sorting and quickly. An extra £5m is a lot of cash, but it won't be much good if a deal is done towards the end of the window and Swansea can't buy a suitable replacement because it's too late for the next club in the chain to buy their replacement, or GS gets cheesed off and digs his heels in by refusing to train or play. I am not saying this will happen, but it's a possibility if he thinks he's missing out on a dream move and as players do try and force moves through.

Given that the money would probably be used to strengthen a number of positions and fund the purchase of more than 1 player, it's really important to get it sorted.

Yes it needs to be put to bed this week. I'm sure it can be sorted. Why not split the difference 3 ways. Everton pay a bit more, we accept a bit less and Siggy drops his wage demand. All save face and move on .... the clock is ticking.

The fee for any replacement will of course be heavily influenced by the fee received. So whether it's 45m or 50m, once all transfer business is done, the difference in how much we are left with will be small change.

Do Spurs get a chunk of any sell on fee?

Well, at least this is one aspect of the club which has changed under the Americans. We are no longer a soft touch in the transfer market. Good on them.

Whether or not they will use the money to strengthen the squad, or goes in the back pocket instead, is another matter.

It's a fair offer. FFS just take it while we've still got a chance to get a replacement in.

If this deal goes through at the end of the window we are fecked. The fact he hasn't joined the tour doesn't bode well for what happens if the deal doesn't go through either.
