Yup. She can do it all can't she. £300 m a week to the NHS (what bus was that on ? the one I saw said £350 m. Were there two ?). So that's £20 billion a year.
Back to the real world. If tariffs are added to the price of cars when we've left they'll be a minimum of 5% i'd imagine. That would equate to about £500 a car. Nissan produce around 500,000 cars a year (2014 figures) so that means £250 million a year to just one manufacturer. Our £10 billion saving isn't going to go very far is it.
I wonder if anything t all will be left for the NHS. |
We could pay Nissan's tariffs from the pot generated from German car manufacturer's tariffs paid to the UK treasury couldn't we.
Who will generate more cash from the introduction of trade tariffs, us or the EU?
(pssst...a bit of a clue, we buy a hell of a lot more goods from them than they buy off us...and the kicker, they depend on having access to the City of London. We can make life difficult for them, however they are doing a pretty good job of this for themselves.) |  |

Lots of people attacking Blair personally for Iraq etc, which is absolutely fair.
Some defending Blair, that he was in tune with the prevailing opinion, even though it was subsequently proved wrong.
Some people saying right message, wrong messenger.
No one has yet been able to put any coherent argument against anything he actually said in his speech, and I doubt anyone will. |
Everyone is bored of that argument.
