With all the Payet stuff, I think there's a bit of pressure for WHU not to be seen as a soft touch in the transfer market right now. Ordinarily they'd have paid the £15m without a second's thought but if they start giving out signals that they just dance to everyone else's tune, they'll become a soft touch.

If the worst comes to the worst, and Hogan stays at Brentford, then we've not lost anything. Was just going to be bonus money rather than cash we were banking on, but I still expect a deal to go through in the next few days.

Sky are now reporting that Brentford are willing to accept less than £15 million for Hogan, looks like Brentford blinked first

West Ham confirm signing of snodgrass. Does that kill the hogan deal?

I can't see why it would. Snodgrass is a midfielder who I assume West Ham saw as too good a signing to turn down as soon as they heard of his availability; which I assume came from the Hull's new manager's desire to make money to build his own team. Hogan's a striker, which West Ham have publicly (both manager and owner) stated that they need. As a club they don't seem short of money- not many Premierleague teams are anymore.

West Ham have agreed to sell Payet to Marseille. I think this will work in our favour and expect Hogan to go through before the deadline.

Rumour is that Payet will go for £25m..
Now £10m on snodgrass wont be on anything remotely half what Payet was on which is about £125k aweek..
Then say £12m for Hogan and about £25k aweek..
WHU would be saving a small fortune in wages each week....

15m total for Hogan including add ons or nothing that is definitely the very strong impression Brentford have given.

But yeah if this deal is ever going to go through its now with Payet going for 25m.

Leeds are after West Ham's forward Ashley Fletcher. West Ham are open to a loan move but only if they get Hogan.

Hopefully WBA will force their hand by getting involved

From what i can see they only have 2 strikers. Rondon and Robson-Kanu.

I guess we are at the stage where there's not much negotiating to be done, either WHU meet the £15m fee or they don't. Doubt there is enough time left to get fancy with lots of clauses about appearances, international recognition, sell ons etc.

I think that would be a much better move for Scott than WHU. Hope it comes off for his sake as well as ours. Presumably AVFC have offered the £15 million asking price.

Get it done and dusted........

Hogan may see location as important, ie. he'd prefer a London club like West Ham or Palace.

An hour on the train ? From a career perspective, he'll be better off at Villa Park.

Doubt he'd want to get the train to training! Plus he's made it clear he wants a move into the Premier League.

Or it could force West Ham's hand! Don't forget Hull City accepted Burnley's offer for Snodgrass - then West Ham moved - lets hope the tactic works again.
