£100 Half Season Tickets! on 17:21 - Oct 21 by D_Alien | The bury game in particular showed there's the potential for 3500* home fans - a very important signal to the club. The trick is to get them through the turnstiles on a regular basis, and price is an important signal to those fans * that should be the minimum target |
IF we have a replay vs Maidstone or fingers crossed a home 2nd round FA Cup game half price entry for existing ticket holders. Fine balance between attracting new or lapsed season ticket holders and not pi55ing off the faithful ones. Im content to take a small hit in the pocket this year if next season is cheaper. I think there is a minimum adult charge of £10 for the FA Cup from the first round, plus any reductions would have to be agreed with Maidstone.

£100 Half Season Tickets! on 18:45 - Oct 21 by ColDale | The club are well aware of the issues - they've been told face to face. The only question would be whether they accepted what was said. Today's announcement can only suggest that they have, and I'd be struggling to see any negative in it. I didn't think the club could act before next season - this shows that they can. Of course, should sales be poor, then they have proof that the only way to raise income is through the existing season ticket holders. Should we shift a significant number then we as supporters have sent a clear message that at an affordable price, the fans will come. |
As you rightly say Col the take up will have a massive impact on next years prices. More fans paying less or less fans paying more , as it is now. The club had to do something to try and get back many who didn't renew in the summer and the deal may work. My frustration is how it's got to this situation. I know the Trust have made the Boatd fully aware of feelings among fans on a number of occasions. Ticket prices for 2017-2018 will have an expectancy of around £ 250.00 based on this decision which is huge discount on this years prices. That's the risk the club will have to manage.
£100 Half Season Tickets! on 19:52 - Oct 21 with 3057 views | Sandyman | This is a fantastic offer by the club and one I will definitely take up. As already said, market the hell out of this and get it on people's Xmas present radar. Well done RAFC for making this happen and taking on board what a lot of fans have said about S T pricing since last Spring.

This is what's hard to understand, it's a brilliant idea and offer so why not just change the wording now and say the under 11s tickets will be a tenner? Same with the existing ST holders, stick a line in about something they'll benefit from. It shouldn't deflect from what is the biggest step forward the club has made in years in attracting fans, but for some it is. And it's easily avoided! No, this isn't moaning, it's looking at how to make some good even better.

£100 Half Season Tickets! on 20:11 - Oct 21 with 3020 views | Laveritty | I must admit that when I first saw the title of this thread I just assumed it was simply another in a long line of similar topics about how we, the fans, thought the club could attempt to increase the fanbase rather than standing idly by and watching the size of the crowds dwindle whilst the league position and points gained continued to improve and increase! Then I opened up the thread, clicked on the link to the official site, and realised that they had actually taken notice of all our suggestions/ideas and launched a bold, but very attractive, looking scheme. The first thing that popped into my mind was WOW - at long last they have done exactly what many people have been saying on here for ages. I assumed that there would be nothing but positive reaction and was looking forward to reading all the congratulatory posts and people recognising that this was a huge step for the club! Add in the little teaser of 'more to come next season' and surely everybody else's reaction would also be 'WOW - what a fantastic move!' I also assumed that all Dale Fans would hold one of two viewpoints: 1) 'I have never been tempted to buy a Season Ticket before (or am a lapsed ST holder) but that offer is simply too good to refuse/ignore - here's my bank/card details and send me my bargain Season Ticket ASAP' or 2) 'I currently have a Season Ticket but appreciate the effort that the club is making with this offer and support it 100% and hope that the club (and fellow supporters) promote it as wholeheartedly as they/we can in an attempt to breathe some new life into the embarrassing crowds scenario at Rochdale AFC. The more fans we can get through the turnstiles, the better the atmosphere will be and hopefully an increase in revenue will lead to improved recruitment for the team!' Sadly there seems to be a few curmudgeons who do not fall into either of these two camps! I don't get this feeling that has come across in a handful of posts where people think they should be entitled to some kind of compensation/freebies to offset the deal being offered to new ST applicants? Surely as an existing Season Ticket Holder you are a committed supporter of the club and can only endorse and approve of any efforts to increase the numbers of people joining you/us. As has been mooted elsewhere on this thread we have also been dangled a carrot with mention of 'The heavily discounted half season ticket is a precursor to our future plans' so I find it difficult to believe that anybody could find cause for complaint or dissatisfaction in this announcement. When you turn up at the Shrewsbury game on 30th December what would you rather see - the usual 75% empty ground or hundreds (thousands? - we can dream!) of extra people and the extra income, noise and support that they would generate? It's a no brainer isn't it? So lets get behind it and give our full backing to the board and try and encourage as many people as possible to come and see what they have been missing for the last few years! UP THE DALE!!!!

£100 Half Season Tickets! on 20:33 - Oct 21 with 2962 views | Dalenet | Good that the club finally understand that we sit in a poor town and have priced people out of the game. Looks like a great price and a great opportunity to get a big uplift in sales next year - I am assuming that season tickets will be circa £10 a game next season. But I have to say that I am disappointed with comments on this thread from people that should know better. How dare they call the loyal fans that stumped up as much as £400 at the start of the season for their tickets and brand them as moaners, They have worked as hard an anybody else for their money and will feel shafted. Unlike some posters on this thread who objected to the season ticket price and voted by not attending when we were not winning, they had already paid their money to keep the club alive. I applaud the initiative but ashamed by people who suggested that the others should be silent and grateful

£100 Half Season Tickets! on 20:54 - Oct 21 with 2899 views | R17ALE | As someone who bought a S/T, I'm not remotely bothered whether this initiative, excellent though it is, might have made me better or worse off than buying a Season Ticket in the summer, or not buying one and taking up this offer. There might be a tenner in it one way or t'other. Who cares? Besides, when I bought my Season Ticket in the summer I chose to at the available price. Nobody made me. I wanted to buy one. There are occasions when I notice certain products in Asda are cheaper than when I bought them a week earlier, but I might curse my luck, but I don't think any the worse of the vendor. Overall I think it's an excellent incentive which I hope might encourage lapsed S/T holders to get back into the habit of owning a book, and some fans who pick and choose to realise that by buying a book they are practically watching football at half price for the second half of what could still be a promising season. It'll be interesting to see how they market it. First port of call should be a letter to anyone who lives outside the town, as they're the ones most likely to pick and choose, who might just be tempted to make the effort at such attractive pricing. Second port of call would be a letter to anyone who didn't renew last summer. Third port of call should be a leaflet at the cash turnstiles to everyone paying in. 3 easy steps to make most potential customers aware of the offer, and it won't cost much to do.

£100 Half Season Tickets! on 21:01 - Oct 21 with 2858 views | Laveritty | I didn't count up the various replies either way but I was surprised to see any negative reaction at all and that was the impression that stuck the most. Having just re-read my post I can only apologise that it comes across as being harsh on the long standing loyal Season Ticket holders - that wasn't the aim! It was more my amazement that what I saw as a positive step by the club was not seen as such by everybody! I still put the question though and take it to an extreme level: if you are a current/long standing Season Ticket holder would you prefer to have 7,500 empty seats at every game, safe in the knowledge that you have paid the full price for your ticket or would you prefer to see the ground full to bursting even if the other 7,500 people had only paid around half of what you paid? That was kind of what I was getting at! Answers please?

£100 Half Season Tickets! on 21:02 - Oct 21 with 2370 views | RAFCBLUE | On 19 April, just after the ST pricing debacle was announced I wrote a piece about the Rochdale directors promoting inclusion. It follows below: "They talk about filling the ground with lots of keen, enthusiastic young people who will follow this club for 20 to 30 years; long after they have stepped down from the board. They are not stupid people. They have made, in their own right, a good return from their specialism be that Church Heating, Toys, Estate Agency or other business interests. But, it is clear that they have misunderstood the people that they represent. Rochdale is one of the poorest towns in the UK. The people who buy a season tickets are the loyalist of supporters. This club and its manager talk about beating the odds on a shoestring budget. Tonight there were 7,000 empty spaces earning zero revenue. Let's be honest. The demographics are unimportant. RAFC needs as many paying fabs and attendees as it can muster. Race, colour, creed and finances are unimportant- but getting behind a club week in, week out are. Promote inclusion. Fill the ground as often and as well as you can. Zero empty space means zero lost revenue. Price elitesly and in ten years this club will suffer. Without Hill we proved that small attendances means bottom division football. Hill talks about not wanting to be like Stockport or Wrexham. Both those club have as good, if not better home support. Build this club. Don't price people out. " MASSIVE WELL DONE TO ALL CONCERNED.

It doesn't say in the article so I'll ask the question: Is a country season ticket available to exiles for 5 games from 30th December for £50? That would also tempt a few.

An entirely laudable attitude, R17, which does you much credit. I'm afraid I should feel much more like The DJ! But it's still only tinkering round the edges; £100 for half a season will put a few score on the gate; £100 for a full season would put thousands on! Your analogy with Asda is very apposite, but Asda don't bleat about how few people come to their stores, they make people offers they can't refuse!

(missed 3 already) I will not give it a second thought next summer. Final straw. Edit: Read the whole thread now and I see that others had already done the maths previously. I'm happy that this is 95% well received, I don't mind being the odd one out on this one in thinking it's a kick in the knackers for those of us who bought a ST, especially new ST holders who paid the full price.
