I don't believe that either.

Thought we out played them first half and was very hard to understand how we wasn't in front at half time. Second half much more even. In my humble opinion Joey T is a better player than when he was with us first time around. Best players for me Joey B and Keith Keane.

I thought Dale were superb today. McGahey, despite the pen, and Jim looked pretty comfortable and Keane was my MOTM. Restricted a very good group of attacking players to only one notable chance (the penalty), don't remember Lillis making a save. Hill deserves so much more credit than he gets on this forum, he knows what he's doing, and he does it with the intention to beat the opposition. Questioning team selections helps no one, players are not in the squad for a reason, whether that be lack of match fitness after an injury, an injury or a psychological injury. We'll be fine this season, that win should restore some confidence lost through being just unlucky.
Get behind the boys. Up the Dale.

I hope you enjoyed eating your words as much as I enjoyed Joe Bunney doing a ten fold better job than McNulty at LB! :D :D :D

Genuinely can't believe some of the Sh1t on this thread...
Bare bones require brave decisions and today's worked ..
3 vital points and a week to hopefully get more bodies back

Very Happy Tonight

Tbf, most of the sh1t came from the usual people reacting when they saw the team rather than anything that happened after that.

There are always reasons for the teams Hill puts out, but unfortunately we never get to know them.

Utter rubbish. McGahey has started the season well for us. Didn't get a clear view of the penalty from the Pearl St but the problem started much further upfield when a couple of players made errors, allowing them to break. Once you're in that situation, a foul is always on the cards.

No. Your post is utter rubbish. We are yet to keep a clean sheet so don't sit there and tell me our defenders are doing fantastically well. We're conceding soft goals ever week. Conceding goals late on almost every week. That today should technically have been a 2-0 home win Mcgahey's stupid, stupid tackle almost cost us 3 points. Every week up until today somebody has been to blame for us not achieving 3 points. Thankfully we have finally broken the duck. Don't say my post is rubbish when our defending is what's costing us games and for once we've gotten out of jail with it

How did we get out of jail with it?

I thought we deserved the win over the 90 minutes.

My first home game of the season as an exile. Thought the team played pretty well with Bunney and Thompson the stand out players.

There was an obvious lack of confidence in the team and some panic defending. Don't know how Mcnulty got man of the match as he looked ropey at times. Hendo looked out of sorts up front and donaldo made some poor choices when better options were available.

The result was perfect as Dale were the better team.

up the dale

Scraping an 86th minute winner very much against the run of play would be classed as getting out of jail with it. We were brilliant for spells in the first half but a ridiculous decision by our CH yet again ALMOST cost us the win. We're not going to get lucky like that many times over the season we have to be better.

I'll repeat, your post was really, really rubbish.

You had a go at McGahey in particular, now you're saying you were talking about the defence as a whole. Our defending has been poor, but very little of that has been down to McGahey, that's why your post was rubbish. I'll repeat it again if you like?

With ridiculous decision you mean put a challenge in,do you suggest he should have instead let him have a free run at Josh 1 on 1,the challenge was there to be made and needed to be made, decision was a pen deal with it.

It is embarrassing at times. I remember when we beat Nottingham forest in the cup and Hill made a point of having 6 players in the squad who had lost the FA youth cup to Forest. He knew what he was doing. Camps and Logan starting that day was nowhere near our best X1 but sometimes these things just work. Hill is a master of making the best of what we've got. We were up against it today and we came through magnificently.

Think Keith Keane deserves a lot of credit today, covering at full back, making the right challengers.

Agree,.......he was also very vocal in support of his colleagues.

Good start KK.......keep it up.

It's days like these that help knit a team together, and make a season.

Davies scoring, Bunney & Thompson contributing, Keane making a decent impression, Hilly getting it right in adversity... I could go on.

The only disappointing thing is to get back and read a multitude of whingeing posts, both before a ball is kicked and even worse, after a hard-fought victory. Surely this is what it's all about?

I thought it was a well deserved win today. In the first half an hour we could have scored three. Henderson with a long range chip and McDermott had a couple of decent opportunities. The remainder of the game was closer but Lillis had little to do. Bunney played well and his crossing was excellent. Maybe left back is somewhere he could play long term? He has a good left foot and can get forward well. He would need a bit of work defensively.

I thought big Jim had a good game today. He is better in the middle and Keane in the sitting role helped the defense no end and allowed Lund and Camps to get further forward.

I'm not sure why McGahey is getting so much criticism from some. Yes he made a clumsy challenge today, as he did at Port Vale but he is a young player without many career starts. He will make mistakes but he is a good player in the making and I would say he has been one of our better players this season in what has been a struggling side.

McGahey had to make the lunge from behind cos from Main Stand their player looked a yard ahead of him when the pass was made & so should have been given offside - one of several poor decisions today. Defence can't guarantee clean sheets - weakness this season has been finishing for me. McDermott & Hendo at fault again there today & generally Hendo has made little impact for some months . Think he needs leaving out, especially if you want Davies to play. JT & JB are perfect examples of how the best teams aren't made up of the best players but the ones who compliment a team shape (Alf Ramsey 1966). They formed a telling partnership in the first half. JB not only put in great crosses, he won at least 10 contested headers against his opposite number. JT & he covered each other and the left side looked more solid than all season. Agree Keane did an excellent Cavanagh impression - tho he did drop too near the back four in the 2nd half. May not be our first choice team every game but credit to all 14 (and the management) for making a top of the league team look very ordinary.

I'll pick you up on this post D_Alien if you don't mind because you are quite wrong there was another disappointment today for me. The pitch markings where so faint you could hardly see the 18 yard line from the Pearl street end. An utter disgrace!

Really enjoyed that today. Tactics spot on in the first half, with our wing-backs overlapping at will. Slightly harder work in the second but to be expected against a team who if they had won would be 2nd in the league.
Joey T has been good since returning and as Col pointed out a while back if he had never played for us before I think we would be happy with what he has shown so far.
