I watched the last episode of line of duty and thought that was good. Undercover has finally grabbed by attention. I quite like some of the investigative programmes Stacey Dooley does. However I can't wait for the next series of people just do nothing.

Perhaps, but he’s a historical not fictional character. Not much point having a spoiler alert on Julius Caesar.

I haven’t but Mrs Sheen loved it.

On other matters ecclesiastical, Wolf Hall had a happy ending with that thieving Putney heretic getting it in the neck. Fantastic writing and performances.

Agree with you, I thought it was brilliantly scripted and acted.
The scenes in the last episode where Cromwell runs rings around his accusers in the kangaroo court while knowing all the time that no matter how right he may be he’s doomed anyway, were absolutely riveting.

Landman on Paramount + is superb. Another Taylor Sheridan project (Yellowstone, Special Ops: Lioness, Tulsa King) and it's been fantastic so far. Worth watching just for Billy Bob Thornton chewing up scenes as he continuously puts out fires in his day job running an oil company for a billionaire played by Jon Hamm. Superb cast - Ali Larter looks great as Billy's ex-wife - and the hook in the first episode is one of the best I've ever seen. Hopefully it continues to be this good throughout.

Finished Wolf Hall on Sunday.

Easily the best thing I've watched this year.

Mark Rylance as Cromwell is magnificent.

I can't think of a better actor currently working than Mark Rylance. He hardly needs to say anything - his face and eyes are so expressive. Thomas Cromwell was cruel and vengeful yet as portrayed by Rylance I felt sorry for him.

Yes, very much so. I've binged the first five episodes and now waiting for the last five to drop. I love the interweaving of the story through different viewpoints and the plot holds together well.

Really enjoyed this first series of Day of the Jackal.

Trailer for Season 3 of The White Lotus looks good, out in Feb.

This time featuring the brilliant Walton Goggins (crazy name, crazy guy).

I have recently been binge watching Portrait Artist Of The Year and I have found it fascinating to see how the artists work and interpret their subjects.

The grass is always greener.

Started watching Mr In-between. On series 2 atm, excellent TV, so good. Cant believe the guy, also wrote and directed it but hasn't done much else( unless Ive missed it.)
It's kind of a mix of Dead man Shoes, Chopper and a Ken Loach film.
Some of the plots are slightly convoluted but Ray's savage but honest, unhinged but principled charisma carries the story through.

Just done the first series of Bosch : Legacy

I put off watching it after previously binge watching the excellent Bosch; reason being I thought his daughter, Maddie, was going to be the lead role in these spin off series. Thought she was the weakest part of the original shows, thankfully she’s not the lead but is more prominent.

Very enjoyable and Harry Bosch is a cool old dude

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Just binged Lockerbie- The Search For Truth on Sky.

Very impressed, very moving. Have to say, one of Colin Firth's finest performances IMO.

I'm one episode in and while it's taking a while to get going I'm impressed so far.

P.S. Agree that Firth is very good. Fine actor.

Just finished American Rust on Prime. It's a slow-burner of a crime drama set in the decaying post-industrial landscape of Western Pennsylvania - the rust belt. Starring the excellent Jeff Daniels as the small town chief of police, it's dark, atmospheric and twisty as feck. Recommended.

PS - for some reason you have to pay (not a lot, 6.99 I think) for season 1 - I took the punt because a friend recommended it - but season 2 is free. However, after enjoying the entire first season without adverts, I just couldn't take their gaudy intrusion any more and coughed up the extra couple of quid for the pleasure of watching without ads. Perhaps that was part of their fiendish plan, but I have to say it really improves the watching experience.

Poll: Who is your player of the season?

Don't watch Black Dove on Netflix. Stars the lovely Keira Knightley, but my God, laughably bad does not do it justice.
I was most impressed with a shoot out in a warehouse in the middle of Peckham and no one opened a window, no police, yet 12 dead bodies, and cars blowing up.

I gave up after episode 4.

Two episodes in to an Irish language police drama called CRA on iplayer which is good.

Really enjoyed Kneecap as well, which is another Irish language film.

I watched one episode before giving up, and between that and the otherwise-excellent Day of The Jackal my conclusion was that there are no police anywhere in the world now.

Except for Ireland, where four million of them show up the day after my car tax runs out.

I finished The Spy (Netflix) last night. True story of an Israeli spy who managed to get into the top echelons of the Syrian Govt in the early-60’s. It’s really good - one of those “oh one more episode, then i’ll go to bed” jobs.

Sacha Baron Cohen plays the lead and he’s very good - there’s me thinking he hadn’t bettered his King Julian role yet.

I’m sure it’s been recommended on here before but too many pages on here now to see who it was to be able to thank them - but you know who you are, so thank you!

Yeah I watched Black Doves after The Day of the Jackal and found it utterly stupid at times.

I decided to watch it in the spirit of a sort of Lock Stock lite TV show and made it through to the end that way.

For laughable TV, it’s hard to beat Playing Nice on ITVx. Mrs and Miss Sheen were hate watching it and roped me in for the last two episodes. Lots of money, lots of talent on both sides of the camera and huge pile of steaming ordure as a result. Treat yourself and shout along at the screen with it.
