tomorrow can't come quick enough on 12:54 - Oct 29 by kel | I’ll retract part of my earlier post. Anne Bent who is involved is lovely and one of the very few decent bury fans I’ve met. One of the others named is a total cock though as is his mate who isn’t on the list but is certainly involved and only does stuff so he can tell others how much he does for bury etc. |
Bent? Brilliant. | |

So, the wailing & stamping of tiny feet, the professional victim mentality triumphs over actual events again... No mention of the failings & complicity of the supporters trust. Not a jot on the duplicity of club employees who at worst were party to bURYs practices or at best turned a blind eye. Nothing said about the potential implications of the EFL intervening during bURYs promotion season & the fans likely reaction. Is it the EFL’s fault that bURY did business with local companies who they had no intention of paying? Is the select committee not aware that bURY was a member of the EFL & had signed up to its regulations the same as everyone else? I actually agree with some of the findings, especially leasing back a stadium but bURY was a basket case financially & it wasn’t the first time, the club had form. Sometimes it’s easy to blame a weak organising body after the event, it’s a bit harder to look in the mirror.

They played outside the spending rules since SD1 took over. They DID cheat to gain promotion. We knew that. Everyone else in the lower leagues knew that. Funny how 3,000 bury fans pretended not to see it unfolding in front of them and played the denial card.

No, no, no. None of the high earners played so it was well deserved and all that. The paragraph you’ve quoted won’t appear on the mong board though as it doesn’t portray them as victims.

Exactly this. Evidently there is a lack of mirrors at Giggle for them to have a look at themselves. They genuinely seem to believe the EFL have some vendetta against them and they are being picked on. FFS the shortest memories ever the supporters. Oh how they loved Stew pot and all his crackpot ideas when he was splashing other peoples cash left right and centre. EFL please read the first 10 - 15 pages of this quite brilliant thread that all bury fans cant bear to accept. Milky bars - Messy faces - Yum Yum - remember that?.

If the EFL have anything to apologise for, it should be that they failed to kick them out at least 12 months earlier, when (as the Committee pointed out) BFC were operating well outside the rules and gained promotion as a result of serious financial shenanigans. It's called cheating. Their promotion should have been annulled and they should have been demoted to the Conference as a result. How much better off they would be now, if that had happened when it should have done. Probably still in existence, still operational in the football pyramid. Their financial woes would have been addressed and they may even still appear on the fixed odds coupon. Phoenix is a million miles away. Lessons need to be learned and a few humility pills swallowed before they rise from the ashes.
