Could it be because they are behind with yet more payments and that HMRC ad the Court are determined that this situation cannot continue. ?
Making an 'enemy' of HMRC is a dangerous and foolhardy thing to do. There will only be one winner and the cost to a business of being constantly associated with dubious financial practices, adverse publicity and poor business management is limitless.

HMRC will not be interested in any debts owed to parties other than themselves. The overdue return relates to the Annual Return which gives a list of the shareholders. The Annual Accounts are due to be published by Companies House on 29 February i.e. this month. [Post edited 11 Feb 2016 13:03]

Agree with the first paragraph but despite the obvious anger at taxpayers footing the bill can't blame them for claiming costs. A stupid decision by HMRC to pursue a court case for a debt that has already been paid (slap forehead smiley thingy)

To be honest , when I read it yesterday I thought 'that can't be right?' HMRC called the hearing because bury were a week late paying their tax bill - ok they paid it eventually but the fact that they delayed payment by a week was still a reason for them to explain themselves - and pay the costs of the hearing. HMRC weren't the ones in the wrong. | |

If you were to ask me, I'd describe the whole BL9 thing as a scam to extract money out of anyone foolish enough to part with it to those scheisters, whilst knowing they could point the finger at Bury Council. Anyone with business sense would know the rules regarding that type of event. | |
