Swansea v York Match Details - let's break the 16,000 att on 09:07 - Aug 24 by builthjack | If the weathers half decent there could be a good walk up crowd. Let's hope there's plenty of windows open at the ticket office or there will be people getting into the ground throughout the first half. 12-13000 crowd maybe? |
Seeing as there's only 4 or 5 windows in the ticket office, queues are inevitable. You'd like to think people would book their tickets in advance or make a real effort to get there very early. I wonder if the club have considered setting up external ticket booths, give them a block of tickets to sell and make it cash only? There's probably reasons they can't do this, but it would speed things up.

Yes sales have been very good today! Around the 11,000 mark sold! Which is good and there will be over 13,000. I think the South Stand will be opened up at some point! However, I would have loved that South stand to have been sold out already to families, youngsters, first timers, etc Super duper deal £25 for a family of 4 and includes kids sausage and chips and two soft drinks and 2 hot drinks for the adults!
| Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year. | Poll: | What is your favourite Knock? |

It was kids for a quid for the corresponding game last year, why not do it again? A pound difference is going to make virtually no difference to the club and not much difference to the fans, but as a marketing tool/gesture to the fans, it makes a big difference.

If you read the original post, pricing is agreed with York. You say yourself it doesn't make a difference to the club or fans, but then you say it makes a big difference? Everyone has their own opinion and £2 is a fantastic price, if £1 makes a big difference to you in your circumstances then fair enough. £1 difference will not affect the attendance tonight, if it was for sale as kids for a quid, people would just moan and say why aren't kids free... club just can't win.

Good grief, I thought it was pretty clear what I was saying, but I'll try again. £1 makes very little difference financially to the club or to a fan buying tickets. However, kids for a quid is excellent from a marketing standpoint. It promotes value for money and people are more likely to buy 'as it's only a quid'. It may sound counter-intuitive, but it's proven to work. It also promotes goodwill among fans, as the club are seen to be making every effort for people to be able to see games as cheaply as possible during a tough economic period. As for agreeing pricing with York, they're not expecting many of them to travel (I think I read 200?) and are openly talking about playing a weakened team, so I don't think they would have disagreed. The club can win and they do a lot. They get a lot more right than they do wrong. That doesn't mean that when they do get things wrong that they should get a free pass. Not unless you want to be sheep and risk ending up like Cardiff. [Post edited 25 Aug 2015 10:47]

It's not the price, it's called marketing and goodwill. Stop trying to have a go at people for the sake of it.

A bit daft arguing the toss over £1 if you ask me. I don't see anything wrong with £2 a kid from a marketing or goodwill point of view. That's cheaper than any other attraction in Swansea (except the free museums of course). Normally the schools would get lots of ticket too, so there's normally plenty of effort to offer cheap footie to the younger fans. What we really need to attract more youngsters (and their parents) in the longer term is an expanded ground....

Kids for a quid is simply better from a marketing point of view. Just like 'Buy One, Get One Free' is such a powerful marketing tool, even if in many cases it's not a good deal for the consumer. The same reason pound shops are thriving, even if you're actually buying a smaller amount of the product than in a supermarket, the premise of only paying a pound makes people think they're getting a good deal. I completely agree with you on your second paragraph by the way.

Ah well, then my argument on that is redundant and my apologies to the club who obviously did want to repeat last year's prices. Now if the ticket sales tonight are handled smoothly and efficiently, the club will have handled this perfectly and I'll look like a right c*nt.

I could be wrong but not sure we will see the walk up tonight, the perfect pricing was £10/£5 and £1 but York didn't want that - we still seem to be one of the cheapest ties for tonight which represents value for money I reckon around 9500 tonight - 300 from York
