6-1 09:44 - Dec 23 with 2062 views | Wizaard | Ever since Saturday, I've been trying to think about times I've seen us ship 6 goals. There's been a number of 5's, most recently the League Cup game against Norwich, and the infamous 7 at St Andrews that New Year's Eve, but six seemed elusive. To that end, I turned to the bible of such things, 'The Calley'. Sure enough, it's been a while. The last time we conceded six at home was 27 February 1960, losing 6-0 to Man United. In the interim, we've actually won scoring six on six occasions. These bring back some real memories. 5/11/60 Cardiff at home 6-1 20/4/63 Birmingham away 6-3 22/10/66 at home to Newcastle 6-0 9/4/85 at home to Crewe 6-1 The last two were back to back wins, firstly home to Bristol Rovers and then away at Port Vale, both 6-1 wins at the end of February 1987. Paul Stewart (always undervalued by Pool fans, imo) scored 6 altogether as Sam Ellis' team had a real purple patch. Anyone else remember any of these games? The Newcastle game was the one when Suddick had a blinder - for them, even though they lost 6-0, so we bought him. Those were the days...

| It will absolutely change the club forever if we go up. It can’t fail to |

Yes. I was focused more on the 6-1s but all great games. There's a 6-0 with Carlisle at home as well on a very windy night at Bloomfield Rd.

I saw us lose at QPR in the 70s. Ours was a retaken penalty by Fred Pickering I think, and I remember Jimmy Armfield playing.

I think it was probably my first London away game so I was very young (honest!)

I never doubted that. Thought you'd have to be someone like Curryman or Methusalah to see it

The Paul Stewart games were amazing - to do 6-1 wins home and away in consecutive games. Shame we all knew after that he'd be sold by the time of the looming transfer deadline.
6-1 on 11:56 - Dec 23 with 1991 views | bollieboy | The Port Vale game was strange as we didn't play particularly well but every attack we had we scored. Pat McGinlay got his only goal for us in that match before we released him. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Think that was the first time I went to Vale Park. DOn't think I've seen us win there since.

I think we beat Scunthorpe 6-0 in 2000/01. Got a feeling Mike Milligan bagged.
