Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam fails in an appeal against a Football Association charge of violent conduct and will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect. The 28-year-old Scotland international was charged after appearing to stamp on Arsenal's Olivier Giroud last Saturday.
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes tells the club's website: "I am extremely disappointed for the effect that this is going to have on Charlie and on the football club."

He is dirty vicious and nasty on a regular basis and his type should be thrown out of the game. Nothing wrong with playing it hard but he puts the careers of fellow pros in danger. The saddest thing of all? He is a talented footballer with ability.
