Southampton Make Move For Manchester United Winger

Saints have made an offer to loan Amad Diallo from Manchester United and latest reports suggest that the Old Trafford club are prepared to do the deal, despite howls of protest from fan websites and message boards.

Manchester United's Amad Diallo could be arriving at St Mary's in the next week in a loan move, Diallo who is not a relation to former Southampton midfielder Ibrahima Diallo is essentially a right winger although can also play on the other flank or as an attacking midfielder in the centre.

He joined United from Italian club Atalanta in January 2021 for around £20 million, but has found his opportunities limited at Old Trafford, he spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at Rangers in the Scottish Premier League where he was a team mate of Joe Aribo.

Last season he went to Sunderland on loan where after a slow start he was pretty much a regular starter for the final 2/3rd's of the season ending it with 27 starts in the Championship plus 10 games off the bench, scoring 13 goals plus 3 assists.

He is yet to play for United this season after sustaining a knee injury in pre season and United see a loan move out as the next step in his recovery after returning to full training earlier this month.

thepeoplesperson.com report that Saints interest dates back to the summer before he sustained the injury on a pre season tour to the USA.

The 21 year old is highly rated at Old Trafford, but they feel that after the injury he is not ready to break into the unite side and his game time will be limited, so putting him out on loan again is the natural answer to the problem.

This has not gone down well with some United fans who feel that the right wing is a problem area and that Diallo could be the answer.

That is not the view of Erik Ten Hag though, the under fire United boss will look to experience to lift his team up the table and therefore is happy for Diallo to go out on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

There is interest from other clubs including in Europe, but it is said that Saints are the club who have been in talks and in pole position.
