New Southampton Home Kit Revealed ! Back To Stripes Back To Reality !

Saints have revealed their new home kit for the 20/21 season and we are pleased to say it is a return to red & white stripes, but why oh why do they have to make it a solid red back, read on for more details.

I cannot argue with the design for the new home kit revealed this morning on the club's official website, but to get the negative out of the way first, I have to ask why they have a solid red back rather that having the stripes on the back as well.

The excuse is that you have to be able to read the number clearly, I take that point but Newcastle seem to be able to have a strip with stripes on it and also Brighton, stripes can still be on the back if the design is done properly.

But apparently this kit is special it is the World's first to feature augmented reality !

Augmented Reality technology apparently means that fans can scan it with their smartphones to bring the shirt to life and gain access to exclusive content, including a 3D James Ward-Prowse in their living room.

The shirt is a celebration of the club’s DNA with both The Dell and St Mary’s featuring in design elements across the shirt, including the names of stands from both stadiums lining the inner back hem.

Fans can pre-order the new kit online until Wednesday 16th June, with adult shirts available at £55, junior shirts at £45, and replica mini kits for toddlers and infants available from £35, featuring full detailing from the player-issue shirts.

As I say I can't argue with the return to stripes, the traditional design that distinguishes us from most other football teams that play in red & white & is iconic when the name of Southampton Football Club is mentioned, but surely they can make it look like a football shirt rather than the wearer has a striped kitchen apron on.
