Red Bull Salzburg Are The New Southampton !

The Hills are alive in Salzburg, this time not with the sound of music, but the sound of Liverpool's scouting system as they again sign a player with RB Salzburg connections.

You could forgive the Austrian side for feeling a bit miffed as Liverpool announced they had completed the signing of Takumi Minamino from them almost two weeks before the transfer window opens, meaning that they are resigned to losing the player and perhaps a little upset that he goes for only £7.25 million due to a clause in his contract, for a player worth much much more than that.

But RB Salzburg chose to make light of the departure and poked fun at Liverpool with a tweet picturing Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, both ex players of their's and Takumi Minamino on a time line with the caption " Anfield Goes Salzburg" and the message Hey Liverpool who's next ?

In truth they don't have much to moan at in that both Mane & Keita did not go directly to Anfield from RB Salzburg but spent two years elsewhere in between, Mane at Saints and Keita at RB Leipzig.

So Minamino is the first player to go directly from the home of the Von Trapp family, but RB Salzburg can see a pattern emerging and probably wish that they hadn't put up the tweet as they had loads of replies suggesting that they are now the new Southampton.

Some were witty I did especially like the one that said;

"Mané and Minamino ➡️ Red Bull gives you wingers."

Others were a little more patronising and some a little more arrogant.

In truth though Minamino is the only one to go directly so Red Bull Salzburg are hardly being systematically pillaged by Liverpool as Saints were for a few years.

Perhaps we ourselves should be looking at RB Salburg a little more closely and seeing who else they have and kick stat our little sideline of buting players cheaply and making a huge profit from Liverpool, some see this being a selling club, but the reality is that the sides outside of the big six who thrive do so because they do just this and keep on repeating the process, our recent demise has not been because we have sold the likes of Van Dijk, but because we have failed to replace him with an up and coming quality talent and keep repeating the process.

The message to Liverpool though should be clear, stop cutting out the middle man as you have done with Minamino.
