I watched it on a stream due to having a busy weekend of gigs (saw the Reytons on Friday at Brixton and Saturday in Boscombe).
Was glad I wasn’t there. The Liverpool cover song was endlessly irritating. |

This sort of thing is sadly inevitable in losing teams.
At pub team level, players simply find something else to do on their Sunday mornings.
At professional level, egos and players' agents are in the mix.
Downes was great for us last season, he could again be next season.
I would hate for us to sell him to Ipswich in the summer and then it comes back to bite us next season. |

I think we are all numbed by it.
Burnley however have something we don’t have.
Proper old school defenders like Joe Worrall, who would risk a kick in the face if it meant stopping a goal.
An absolute steal at £5 million from Forest.

What I don’t get is his supposed demand for “heavy metal football”.
We still play David Brent football.
Yesterday was full of slow, ponderous Martin stuff at its very worst.
When Pochettino took over from Adkins, he had our players charging around like crazed lunatics pretty much from the first game. Worked a treat.
Not seeing any of that at all.
Ate our players that unfit that they simply aren’t up to “heavy metal football”? |

It has become increasingly clear to me that the business model is to use money from the Premier League (not the Premiership, there is little money in Scotland) to fund the advancement of clubs in Turkey and France.
We have massively overpaid for a young CB from Valenciennes. That will help them to fund a bid for promotion.
It is a ridiculous business model. They will not make big money from either Turkey or France.
At the same time, we have recruited horrifically badly.
Difficult for me to see a happy ending to this farrago. |
